2080Ti, how much should I roll back my expectations?
Just got given a 2080Ti and it's working fine. Previously had a 1080TI and played about half the game. Wondering if the game is going to look that much better or if it's just gonna look about the same but with lower fps?

It'll be about the same, just with more frames overall. Allowing you to play at a higher quality with a similar frame rate as before. The only big difference is if you absolutely max out everything and use RTX mode the lighting will be better.

I went from a 1060 6GB to a 3070TI and while the difference is very noticeable, I tend to only max things out when I want a screenshot.

Ok, I'm gonna try same settings I played before to see if it feels more smooth and then I might add a little bit more fancy graphics

With DLSS quality you can use RT and Enhanced Edition and get similar 1440p performance to ultra settings on the original game.

I run a 3080TI FTW3, with DLSS Ultra and RT Normal, everything else maxed. 144 in most areas, lowest ive seen is like 90 in massive open environment. I would play RT Quality, but visually i dont really see a difference to make it worth while running. But about similar FPS.

I don't think you need to roll back your expectations too much (yet).

I just bought it and I'm pretty surprised so far.
Haven't left the metro yet, but till now I'm getting 90-100 fps on an RTX 3050 at 1080p, high settings, RT Ultra and DLSS at quality.
Since I don't need/want more than 60fps, I'm considering a try even without DLSS.

I thought the game was very demanding and keeping in mind my CPU is a R5 1600 only, I'm really surpised about the perfomance.
So you should be fine with your 2080, I guess.

i think it looks substantially better than the original, and with the updated DLSS it runs a lot better too. i have a 2080 ti and run it on a 3440x1440 monitor. looks great, runs better than the original (with dlss), and plays smooth.
