Why do I own 2 different versions of this game wth?
I just bought the game and I have 2 different versions of it in my list. If I download the one that just says Metro Exodus, would I still get the pc enchanced edition or do I have to actually download the one that says pc enchanced edition? Seems pretty pointless to make players download the game all over again for something that should have just been an update?

You have to download the PC enhanced edition to get the Enhanced Edition.

Although I'd hardly say it's worth it.

In my case, the gamma setting in-game is wonky at best, broken at worst. I can't set it low enough to make the symbol in the far left "almost indistinguishable" as the game asks you to do, and the game flat out refuses to use G-Sync despite my display being compatible, and the setting being turned on in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Such a let-down, and I can't even leave a negative review, because the Enhanced Edition doesn't even have a store page, and the time spent in it isn't counted towards the "5 minute minimum" requirement for leaving a review.

Imho, just stick with the standard edition, or refund the game. I'll probably do the second. I'm not about to spend hours ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around in all kinds of settings just for the POSSIBILITY that the issues might be fixable.

Sorry, I went off topic a bit, but I really expected more when I paid for this, now my evening is ruined, and my disappointment is immeasurable.

The reason you have two versions listed in your library is because buying Metro Exodus gives you access to the Enhanced Edition.

The reason the Enhanced Edition is a separate item, is that many of the assets (especially the level data) are substantially different between the two versions, meaning the original level data won't work in the EE, and vice versa. And these level assets account for a majority of the file-size (so including both versions in a single download would significantly increase the download size).

You need to download the version labelled Enhanced Edition to play the EE.

use reshade with these shaders

levels, prod contrast brightness and prod space curves.

or use special K and the built in HDR and tune it to your taste.

Thanks, but I refunded it instead. And I have no regrets about doing so.

You're not missing out on much. Awful dialogue, shoddy story telling, crappy stealth, and corny AI. It looks pretty, has nice atmosphere and some decent shooting, but that's pretty much it.

I am always curious how these statements are made, and yet nobody ever provides a game that does it _all_ better.

Exodus has great feeling shooting on par with Insurgency.
Exodus has great story telling if you like realism.
Exodus has okay AI that can surprise you sometimes, but is meh overall.
Exodus has an amazing atmosphere.

You say that as if you somehow made a case as to how it does any of it well or what games do it worse, or that what you said greatly differed than what I did. I said it has good atmosphere, visuals as well as solid shooting. You want an essay? Fine....

The dialogue and delivery in this game is so ham fisted; with characters cartoonishly shoving their faces into your view and monologuing ad naseum to set up your next plot point/destination. I don't understand your "realism" statement beyond the original book story creqating this world. Yeah, that has realism, but the dialogue and plot is just wonkily told. Like, 2033 got away with it because it was an interesting world and you were alone more, but their storytelling and direction really has gotten worse since Last Light. Time passes in large chunks that I am not given time to care for these characters and their problems, so they often relegate their problems to side missions to try and make me engage in a resolution. The open areas start off interesting until you realise how it's mostly a meaningless resource drain to explore beyond the obvious landmarks. Control is constantly taken from you sections of the game to artificially slowing down your movement and show you setpieces and to "soak" in the atmosphere. It's annoying and not needed when the world already looks as s good as it does.

The AI is fine when it comes to firefights....but stealth is still childs play. It's rudimentary at best: basic patrolling, getting alerted and will "hey what's that noise" follow your distraction item. One enemy seeing you means all enemies know where you are until you re engage and break line of sight again. It's really just the same old stuff we've seen for ages and it's not interesting.

It's a decent game, but I can only really see people loving this game if they don't play many mechanically interesting shooters and open world games and just love eye candy.

How about I be as reductive and vapid? Some people are just graphics coomers and will gorge on any mediocre games as long as it's pretty and plays as well as a 5 year old AAA title.

I tend to agree on the stealth being super basic, but then again, the game was never meant for that. I tend to ignore stealth as a mechanic and it works fine on occasion. My biggest gripe with the stealth system is none of what you mentioned, but rather the fact that sometimes I suffer from this massive immersion break when I'm clearly in the open, and someone is looking at me, but because I am in 'darkness', they don't see me. Hence I stated that Exodus has mediocre stealth. We don't have good stealth systems since the original Thief back in 2003.

I don't know what you find so ham fisted about this delivery in the story. I found the characters to be very believable, if somewhat stilted in terms of their animation. Name me a game that has open worlds that does this delivery better. I compare it to AC: Odyssey or Origins and it's miles ahead of those, and Ubisoft is definitely not the worst at making somewhat compelling stories.

Exploring beyond the major landmarks, for me, provides me with MORE resources, not less, so you must be doing something horribly wrong. The small stories you come across, notes, letters and audio logs are all a great moment of story telling for me. You probably missed the floating hospital in Volga area, the one on an abandoned island that has no reason to ever go to it: I found one of the most touching moments in the game there, but mechanically there is ♥♥♥♥ all reason to be there, there are some resources but they are not that worth the boat ride.

I get the feeling your major problem with the game is that it's not mechanically amazing. And that is fine, but you're playing and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at the wrong game for this, as the mechanics serve the game very well.

So please, do provide examples of games that do things better in all of these respects, and I'd love to find something that has the same general idea (open world, story, gunplay), that is better than Metro. Please, provide such game(s) and we can talk, because until you do, there is no merit in your argument that it's ♥♥♥♥, because you can't name anything better.
