save files not transferring?

i just got the game a few days ago and im done with the volga part now i wanna continue my save file on the Enhanced edition but its not there?

According to the faq chapter saves work but not saves within a level so you should be able to load the spring chapter and continue from there.

DF said in analysis that Chapter transfer is supported but you will be at the beginning of that chapter, try copying save manually

yeah i did unlock all the chapters and loaded into the spring chapter and alll my progress is gone i dont have any suit or weapon upgrades

i did try to download my save file from the original game titles m3_auto_save and it doesnt show ingame

The transfer was automatic for me but I was at the start of the Volga level anyway. I had the standard Metro Exodus already installed - if it is uninstalled then I expect it would not automatically import the save from Steam cloud but not sure.

I also noticed that progress for achievements was transferred - as in the Tidyman achievement is almost complete in my Enhanced edition despite me only playing for about an hour.

none of my saves from 3 different backups work.
tried every fix out there.
Its the same cloud save and corruption errors from OG version day 1.
Maybe they will actually fix them this time, but i doubt it.

The actual progress in levels is inaccessible. But my NG+ should work.

As for anyone else looking to "continue" or "load" a save, it clearly states you cannot.
It's that IF you unlocked that chapter,
You can begin a new save, FROM that chapter by clicking "select chapter"

Thats it. So the saves aren't really compatible. The wording on the website is just intentionally misleading

None of my chapters are unlocked. I had to start from the beginning.

The steam cloud integration would break saves in the classic version.
They never fixed this and now both editions use the same save directory.

Not surprised it's causing serious issues.

Don't know what to tell you guys. I stopped playing vanilla right at the start of the caspian sea chapter. Loaded up the EE, chose Caspian Sea in the chapter selection screen and started the level with all my weapons and mods from the yamantau levels.
Might have something to to do with older saves.

Im guessing the vanilla version was installed, then u installed the EE and loaded it up or? cause i want to play the EE aswell now and was wondering how i can make sure i keep my progress.

Backup you saves for one thing. EE recognises Vanilla Chapters, but for it to recognise saves you need to rename them first, here;
