Reduces image quality in parts of the image where it is not so obvious to the players eye and gives a performance boost in exchange.

I found its usefulness limited on my 2060S and stopped using it after a few minutes of testing.

yep i agree i tried turning it to 2x then 4x, but the performance increase was negligable. i find on my 2060 6gb i have rt to ultra and reflections on hybrid at 2560x1440 tess on hw on , slightly increased fov phys x on runs butter smooth, found that turning rt to high in railcar area so far to get decent smoothness, hope caspian sea is ok.

VRS only affects transparencies, so fire/smoke/glass. Renders them at a lower resolution essentially. Use 2x if transparency heavy scenes tank your frametiming.

if you don't have a 30xx series then you should use VRS in areas with intense transparencys
such as burning or exploding areas, Exodus isn't very well optimized when it comes to those effects, it will pump out a lot of sprites without limit. VRS can look better if you enable AAT to 8x (Antialiasing Transparency)
VRS will down sample the effects and AAT will smooth out the final render.

Any kind of transparency (cub webs, fire particles, any kind of glass/lens, smoke particles, etc...).
