[No Spoilers] Sooo about Mizuki...

I'm not trying to start anything, I just have a legit question; I've gotten through a lot of of the game already but not finished yet (just started on the true/middle route). Started out liking her (or at least being neutral towards her), but the more I've seen of her the more I hate her. But I know there are people who like her a lot and I'm curious why. (Hopefully it's for better reasons than just "it's a female protag" or something stupid like that.) Also not judging for who you like, just curious.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds like you haven't played the first game? Mizuki's route was probably the best in the first game.

I'm not sure how I'd feel about the character if I hadn't, but I could understand why it wouldn't be as positive as those that did.

Yeah, I've played and beaten the first game, which is the whole reason I liked Mizuki in the first place, I suppose I ought to have mentioned that I had liked her in the first game. But in THIS game.... yikes. Have you beaten this game yet?

She's pretty much the same here as she was in the first game. What made you go from liking her to hating her?

Short version of why I like her: she's insightful, cares about her friends, doesn't put up with other peoples' ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (especially Date's), and is dedicated to finding the truth. I definitely don't see anything about her that I'd consider a "yikes".

Well, before I answer this, how far are you in the game? I don't want to give spoilers by accident, because a lot of the reason why I started hating her is related to her behavior and actions a little later in the game.

Mizuki is a pure child deserving of love. And also a very bloodthirsty gremlin.
But ngl, with introduction of Bibi i've started to feel more affection towards Big Big Sis, but i can't really decide on that yet considering we only got a little bit of her in the end, nowhere near as much as we got of our precious child in both games.

Yeah but I'm talking about Mizuki's perspective, where she blatantly breaks the law and disrespects people's choices and opinions because of her obsession with the case among other things

She's a spoiled brat, tbh, because people let her get away with a LOT of ♥♥♥♥ and they don't call her out for her or give her any consequences. Which is one of my BIGGEST issues with her. She just does what she wants. Like the other person who said they liked Mizuki because she doesn't take ♥♥♥♥ from Date, when all THAT amounts to is "Date likes x hobby and Mizuki doesn't so she's an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it." He's a grown man, he's allowed his hobbies. The bashing on Date was always annoying but it feels like they really doubled down on it in this one.

That said, Bibi is EASILY the best female character as far as i'm concerned.

This game certainly didn't help Mizuki grow as a character, the takeaway from the previous was mostly that Date wasn't that bad a father figure, and I guess that it helped endear people to Mizuki at the same time (that wasn't necessarily deserved since she was just a bundle of hostility through 90% of it).

You play Ryuki more than Mizuki.

I feel the goal was more to expand the roster of ABIS agents for future games.

It actually did the opposite for me, it made me dislike her from the first game XD. I WANTED to give her a fair shot in this game, but it ended up making me hate her even more.

I like the game, but I feel like I would have liked it WAY more if they had the ABIS members cooperate and work together more instead of going "Only *I* can do this" throughout most of the game.

The overall theme of the game was distrust and melancholy, the reason I'll always like the first one more. So Ryuki and Date especially trusted no one especially in ABIS and wanted to do everything alone.

No, I think the overall theme was actually more "Choice and Consequence" than Distrust and Melancholy..
