Even better than Lu Bu IMO. Although I'm saying this mainly because I found the horse phase of Lu Bu to be kinda lame and boring. It's not hard to deal with or anything, but I just didn't find it fun. Even if I were to not count the horse phase, Zhang Liao would still the better fight to me.
You dont even know the boss we are talking about.
He only has super armor when his divine beast is active.
You can deflect ALL the secondary hits from the lightning. (you can probably also just block it with a metal spell)
Heavy Armor gives lower resistance then medium does, which gives lower resistance then light armor.
Zhang Liao is extremely absurd since his AOE spells and attacks cover massive areas and it is almost impossible to get to him without getting hit. I could deal with Lu Bu because you could counter his fire-phase by proper deflects but I did not find anything for Zhang Liao. Best thing about Zhang Liao (sarcasm) was the fact I had to kill him twice since the game CTD at cut scene introducing next mission and when I got back into the game, I was in front of Zhang Liao battle flag.
You can also use a Virtue that Overcomes their Virtue.
An ice area will block fire damage from going through it. So if someone throws a fire bomb, it stops once it hits the ice area.
An ice attack used against an enemy Fire Buff wil cancel it. (regular buffs too, not just elemental weapon) Lu Bu's fire enchant can be canceled this way. Zhang Liao cant be canceled because he uses Divine Beast to enchant his weapon. But his lightning attacks I think can still be blocked. (not sure if all of them)
Zhang Liao has his Divine Beast removed if you spirit break him I think.
In Nioh originally you had to dodge or run away. Immunity to elemental damage wasnt a thing untill higher NG+ and getting the effect transfered to 3 pieces(?) of armor.
But in Wo Long we get that baseline because Deflect prevents elemental damage too.
So this game has more methods of dealing with elemental damage then Nioh did, and an easy way right from the start.
Elemental Resist is for when you dont want to, or cant avoid damage.
He is not terrible. I was just shocked of my first few attempts.
What helps is actually stay closer and dodge to the side so alot of his aoe strikes miss you.
But the fact that he is covering so much area, the fact you cant see good because of the particle effects and the sheer speed makes him kinda cheap.
I could have failed for way more attempts than i did i guess. I got a bit lucky with some moves.
Make him a bit slower and take away a bit of the particle effects and the fight is way more fun.
I actually beat him first try :D
He is not half as dangerous because he deals not that much damage. I wasnt even good at the fight and made aton of mistakes.
He's got a lot of very fast multi-hit attacks, and I noticed on some of them, pressing the deflect button once actually deflected multiple hits which means you can more or less mash the deflect button on some of his combos and you don't even need to time it.
After that watch out for him thrusting his spear repeatedly and ending with wide AOE sweep. He'll also do a delayed attack slamming his weapon on ground with straight line lightning. deflect twice, once for weapon, other one for his lightning.
