Say goodbye to VP9 videos!
The cutscenes use VP9 codec.
If your game crashes on start, install that codec from MS store.

Another flaw, the cutscenes tend to slap the CPU hard, 70-90% usage for a video a playback, that's definitely is not right.

So here we are,
The cutscenes has been re-encoded.

Now the videos are using AVC, and in 1080p with ~11K bitrate, lower CPU usage, and better compatibility.

Previously cutscenes were 1440p and ~18K bitrate.
Just in case create a backup, before replacing them

i think this works
not 100% sure though, might be placebo? needs more time testing.
What CPU do you have? Just curious.

Even with my dinky lil 5600x, usage never went above 50% during gameplay and was below that during cutscenes lol.
bump for visibility
i dont seem to crash anymore after replacing the files

Dude this was the best fix for the game. i replaced all the videos with the downlaoded ones and it works and is playable for me.

i can also confirm on my 5800x CPU usage goes up extremely high during cutscenes but quickly drops when the game-play begins
very nice!
where are they located

mine was Cdrive/xbox game/wolong/content/archive. steam i assume is the same process but in the steam apps file folder.
There are no video files on steam install.
Can confirm, there's seemingly no video files on Steam, so instructions are required
on steam the location is here: steamapps\common\WoLongFallenDynasty\archive\e60ae31f67ab883c746bb71c7a145c18

you can search by file name
and the original file does not have its extension, so maybe it's safe to delete the .mp4 extension from these new videos

Why lower the resolution and bitrate? Re-encoding is great if it solves the issues they have, but I dont see why also reducing the quality of the cutscenes.

if you download the entire archive as .zip then all the files will get .mp4 extension for some reason
you can use this script to batch remove all file extensions in a folder

forfiles /S /M *.mp4 /C "cmd /c rename @file @fname"

so just unzip all the files in a certain folder and use cmd to run the script, then move all those files inside /archive/whatever/ rewriting all of them

So it's basically just getting rid of the .mp4 and that's about it?
