Graphic settings don't properly save and reset to standard after a restart.
I've noticed while playing the game on Gamepass my graphic settings refused to save correctly after confirming my choices and restarting the game. I can see an icon flash on the bottom left corner of the screen that highlights an autosave was triggered after confirming my settings, but it doesn't appear to be functioning correctly. Deleting the KoieTecmo folder in documents that generates the Wolong graphic_options.json where settings are stored did nothing to fix this problem. Even prompting Gamepass to verify and repair the game installation failed to fix this issue.

Am I the only one encountering this problem or is it widespread issue effecting all users?

Just finished a quick test run with the steam demo version and the exact same problem manifested there too. Anyone with a full release copy care to test if their graphic settings are being saved properly in-between restarts?

mine are not, I keep turning off AO and it pops back on next game

For me playing on steam the settings do stick. They also stayed put when I played the demo on gamepass. In fact they even transfered between demo (I also played steam demo) and main game. So not sure what the problem is for you.

Nah, every single time I do anything in the settings it all just gets reverted. I even went into the save file and edited them manually and it still just resets.

On top of that I can't find the .ini file of this game anywhere rn so I can't even try n fix it there.

I double checked the graphic_options.json where the graphics settings are stored and its not set to Read-Only. I can't make heads or tails of what is going on, but for some reason any user defined graphics settings aren't being properly saved and stored for restarts. Could be user error or a game bug but more people are going to need to chime in order to determine which is it.

I have the same issues, I fixed my performance issues somehow yesterday and I was so happy. Logged back in today to find everything was reset and I don't entirely remember what I put everything to. Now it's stuttering again.

Gamepass too. I've tried it multiple times. Just made a thread about it a bit ago too.

I'm almost certain that it's a game bug. Classic unreal 4 game release.

Hmm. Does your username or the path to:

%SystemDrive%\%USERPROFILE%\Documents\KoeiTecmo\Wolong\Savedata

have any non-standard english characters in it? Like stuff you wouldnt be able to find on a US based qwerty-keyboard. Sometimes that can cause issues saving in the documents or sub folders. Altho usually I think it prevents creating those files to begin with.

Also, did you check you have a system save?

The game doesn't use unreal 4. It's using their in house engine that was used for most if not all of their games going back from like the ps3 era.

No. Everything is in standard English. My folder structure is as follows
Windows(C) > Users > thecr > Documents > KoieTecmo > Wolong > Savedata

I can confirm that the game is having no issues writing to the json. Leaving it open in notepad+ during and after a restart prompted me for a reload because changes occurred within the document. The title booted up in 1920x1080 and after setting 3840x2160 as my resolution the game correctly wrote to the document my new resolution and booted up at 4k. But for some bizarre reason graphic settings aren't being saved between restarts.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I'm not seeing it anywhere in the graphics settings, where is it at?

Check if "config_type":"XXXX" is set to CUSTOM in the file, mine was MIDDLE and after i changed that to CUSTOM setting changes are saved on quit.

I don't think you can deselect performance/quality mode? You pick either one, but you can't pick ''non''. Even if you're on custom.
