Let's get to the point, Rise and MH Generation are both released on Switch. Rise has 78 monsters in total including Sunbreak. While MH Generation has 129 monsters in it. If you were asked to port which one, would you really pick Rise? Now you know fanbase confusion when Capcom decide to make new MH from scratch and port it over the other one that people wanted, MH4U included. Its like asking for Bloodborne remaster at this point.
Or Capcom just wanna flex about wirebug mechanic or something. Hammer guy better bring some monsters from Rise to Wilds or it'll further my point that Rise is just a side dish franchise.
With this view, Rise becomes very necessary for an easy transition and development process with all the eyes and hype on Wilds. Like, don't get me wrong, it'd be absolutely great to get new ports of MH4 and Generations. But it's also not like Rise was supposed to be made in spite of, or to replace those other games.
Lastly I have a little pet theory that they partially made wirebugs so extensive because of how much fun they had making this little route up to the top of the Coral Highlands.

Rise is mainline. Cope and seethe.
Doesn't look good for wilds if thats the case, so far the "side dishes" have been the absolute peak of mh, particularly GU.
Iceborne is technically a spin off also. As are all ultimate editions of any monster hunter in the eyes of capcom.
The actual answer to OP's question.
You get larger and more customization move-set.
2nd largest roster of the mainline games
A stronger old school feel with the modern fitting World introduced
Unlike world the base and DLC have much more varied weapon designs and aren't just reskins.
the world is larger, but not nearly as organic or pretty as World.
Your hunter is more mobile and the weapon combos are deeper then World (which where already deep.)
The monster roster is quite a bit more varied, where in World there was a major focus on Wyvens and subspecies.
Those are probably the most significant differences.
If you like fun and creativity play rise.
The narrative in world is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible. I don't know what you are on about. Rise isn't good, sure. But world isn't ANY better.
The maps in rise are much more akin to how monster hunter usually is, world is the odd one out.
Tracking mechanics? You mean the stuff that lasted for 3 hunts, then turned directly in to rise anyways? Its an extremely poor tracking mechanic that doesn't help but slow the game down. I want to fight monsters, not sniff there tracks for minutes at a time.
World was the one game in the series that made you do random other ♥♥♥♥. Its not that rise is streamlined, its that world is cluttered with nonsense.
This is the kinda post that tells me you haven't played much, if anything, before World.
Some of the worldbabies already complained about focus mode, and I am sure that they will find it hard to master offset attacks.
I personally disliked Sunbreak GS, because some weapons depend too much on the counter. MHWilds is similar to Sunbreak in that regard. But I am not telling to the Worldbabies, until they will certainly be crying and going back to their own comfort zone namely endless fatalis hunts.
