MONSTER HUNTER RISE

MONSTER HUNTER RISE

Statistiche:
Game is pretty small in size
Compared to recent AAA games and even quite a bit smaller than Monster Hunter World at 23GB. Thats about half the space MHW takes. Wondering how much content it has. Unless I misread the store page requirements.

Having played it on the switch, it's got plenty of content. Basically as much as World.
23 GB compared to 48 . I doubt it. Unless the graphics are reduced or something.

Different kind of graphics, models, compression etc. The game is still quite big. Obviously not as big as World (I'm talking in-game big, not file size) but it's still quite something. The areas have been reduced to help with the issue many had with World, which was "Whilst beautiful, there was too much unused space".

Endgame issues aside, rise still has more content than base world did.

File size doesn't mean much of anything.

where do you think the game content comes from .outerspace. Maps ,textures, audio..its all a file in the game. Its not the be all and end all determining factor. ..but it does appear to be a smaller game. Unless they are using lower rez graphics and such..

Yes. And the size of those assets doesn't really mean much. It's about utilization and how it's packed.

seriously.......its not packed once its installed. The stats on the store page is install size..Not download size.

Only if you're comparing it to iceborne. Which is just incorrect.

Rise: 40 monsters(not counting apexes), 5 main maps.

World: 36 monsters, 5 main maps.

It probably has to do with being developed for the switch first. They probably had to cut down on the size because the system has very low storage space. This game has fewer cutscenes and a shorter story than world. The maps are also smaller vertically than world but I like that since getting around was a pain. I'd figure that's why it's so much lighter weight. I think the game is worth it and I might even buy it a second time for PC. If you want to hunt monsters you won't be disappointed with rise assuming the port doesn't run like a pile of garbage.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that this is from the perspective of someone who completed the story mode of each game and didn't get super far into the "end game".

yea that makes sense.I am not a fan of lots of cutscenes anyway. That would not bother me.

Rise has technicaly more content than base World but a "bad" endgame. More monsters etc... If the game is that much more little in size it's because it's a Switch game so little engine, low graphics, idk just look at the montains in the demo map. No trees, no rocks, nothing, just a flat texture, compared to world where you can see a hundred of trees in the forest etc... So that makes Rise way more little in size.

Not... exactly. Tree models are regularly duplicated because they're geometrically complex. Saves on space.

The more barren areas are more to save on gpu power on the switch than storage space.

The switch really doesn't have that much of an issue with storage space. Last game that had a real problem was LA Noire because it was too big to fit on the internal storage and required a SD card.
It's not about the size, it's about making the most of what you have. Penis joke.
It's just a Nintendo Switch game with higher resolution textures.

Gameplay is a compromise between World and traditional Monster Hunter games. Rise is a very good Monster Hunter to start on but as someone who already played World I lost interest after a while. You have much better mobility in this one so evading attacks and getting out of hopeless situations is way easier than it's ever been before, to the point that it's almost hard to die.

On the flip side, I've heard some of the later monsters have basically one-hit-kill attacks to add some difficulty back into the game. The horde attack mode gimmick is also super boring and seems like they were desperate for something to add "value" to the game so they threw in a tower defense mode.

Overall, hard to recommend if you already have World. If it was $60 and included the expansion that would be one thing. Full price and no expansion... oof.

Imagine being such a loser that you get upset that a game is too small in size. Would you prefer it were sized like warzone? Take up your entire SSD? Touch grass
