What is the point of Apex monsters?

Seriously, aside from them being a tad more difficult than their regular counterparts, what is even the point of having them in the game?

You cannot craft armor nor weapons from them. So unless you want, in my case as a CB user, the pointless rampage weapons, there really is no reason to them even being in the game.

They don't, but it would be nice. Even just armour sets or tying some special layered to them would have been nice. An example, Extremoth gave you an exclusive Guild Card title and Drachen layered. That alone was enough for people to bang their heads against it.

We could go out on a limb and say all monsters in the game shouldn't drop any parts at all and you should still hunt them because of the sense of pride and accomplishment you get...

Harder monster to fight really. Apex Diablos is kinda fun and it triple combo is deadly if it catch you off guard. Also it is a possibility that the mats might be used in Sunbreak in some way.

It is more likely that Sunbreak will invalidate most of the gear options in base game, just like Iceborne did to World. At most you get a faster upgrade.

They are also the way to farm lazurite jewels so they do have a purpose in the grind as well as a fair amount of non rampage weapons still need an apex mat for it's final stage. I do really wish they had unique armor and weapons though.

Mostly this is their way to have variant monsters without them needing to spend time creating a new model.

If EVERY monster had an Apex I might have thought differently.

Fair point, I mean I guess I could compare it to my experience in previous Monster Hunters, once I had everything I wanted I just played for fun afterwards, because slaying monsters never gets old. But sometimes I can't help but wonder what would the Apex armors have looked like had they included them in the game.
