Hello hello! Its been a long time since I posted an update. I have been heads down working on Pingers ahead of the release at the end of next month (29th July) 🙌

I am very happy to say that Pingers is now ready, version 1.0.0 is primed for release on the 29th July! 😻

The biggest changes since the last update are:

1. New game mode, versus mode.
2. CPU players
3. More tracks
4. Steam achievements
5. Steam leaderboards
6. Localisation


You can now choose what game mode to play after selecting "Play" in the main menu.

Once you have selected a mode, you then pick how many players you want to play with!

After you've confirmed the player count, you can pick your characters as normal. The big change here is that now you can play with CPU players, or you can join in with your friends.

Once a player dies, e.g. they run out of lives (this number can be changed in the game difficulty settings) they will be replaced with a wall. Below you can see a 4 player game where 3 players have died, leaving one player and 3 walls!

Once the last player dies, they win the game and are shown the new winning screen.

You can change the number of lives in the game difficulty settings as shown below:

It's weekly update time and I've just released version 0.0.5 of Pingers to Steam!

I've made some big progress this week with the sound for the game. Pingers now has 2 new tracks, one for the ingame menus and the other for the game itself. Check out the latest version to hear the new music! As well as this, I have also added a plethora of much needed sound effects to the game, finally!

On the visual side I have two topics to call out, a new menu background and the options menu which you can see below.

• Fixed a bug when unlocking all the hats which was crashing the game
  
• Tweaked the powerup spawn rate from 10 seconds to 6 seconds
  
• Changed the ramp up of difficulty so that the game gets harder faster
  
• Fixed control mapping when using multiple controllers so that players have sensible controls!
  
• Attempted to add more sophisticated error reporting, but ran into SSL issues, to be revisited
  
• Created new steam store and library assets, updated with the new look and feel of the game

• Steam Leaderboards
  
• Steam Achievements
  
• New faces and hats!

Hello again! Its weekly update time and I have just realsed version 0.0.4 of Pingers! As always, some new treats to get your teeth into.

This week was all about player customisation and building the foundations for the unlock system within the game. With this there are two major changes.

Players can now choose a hat, and a face for their paddle in the player select screen! New hats and faces can be unlocked by playing the game and scoring new points. This has added a number of new concepts which I will cover below.


On the player picker screen, players can now change three elements. Their paddle colour, face and hat. You can see this in action below:

If an item is not yet unlocked, it will show a padlock on top of the item, unlocking these is described below.


When a player unlocks a new item, once they have scored enough points to get that item, they will see the following:

If you note, that once they get to the game over screen, they will also see how many points away from the next item they are.

Hello everyone! I have just released Pingers version 0.0.3 for testing. I have been working on this version during the week and have some new treats for you all.

I have added two new items, the missile attack and a freeze item. As well as finally adding the stats screen at the end of the game so players can compare how well they did against eachother. Details below!


This adds a new item which once picked up will give the player a homing missile attack which will shoot at the closest ball possible. It lasts for 10 seconds.


Another new item, which once picked up will freeze all the balls on screen and once they defrost they will all pop!


At the end of the game, you can now view stats for all the players!
