Short Review: This life-sim really have something special in it. Ive only played the demo so far, the early access release happened recently, but from what i had experienced, i want to see more, so i buy the game shortly! :D but to my short review for the demo, generelly also the first hour of gameplay of the release version.
Moonlight in Garland is a life-sim with rpg aspects, as its more like the sims as a normal farming-sim style game we all know like stardew valley. As a new citizen of a great city, you want to start a new life. Renting an appartement is the first step and there we go - from now on you can do whatever you want to keep a living. From earning rewards doing dailys tasks like clean up the city or helping the people, trying out a garden lesson to learn how to work with plants to keep them alive and music or book courses, roaming around in a big city full of areas like super markets, cafes, restaurants, a subway, wholesome parks and so much more, its not getting boring!
Features like decorating, chatting with people and creating friendships or a questsystem is also there. So for now what ive seen in the demo, there is a bunch of content activities you can do during the day.
The graphics are well made for a pixel game, i am a big fan of how the city oveall looks like, lovely created! Same for the characters and their sprites in the dialogue windows (also the characters who are living in the city seeming like to be very different from each other, could be a welcoming variety to meet them all!)
The soundtrack and the generally sounddesign are wholesome, very atmospheric to roam around in this pixel-city and its very charming to explore it.
Controls and the UI could be a bit curios at the beginning. Movement of the character overall is very smooth and feeling good, but the interface and how to navigate were a bit difficult for me at the beginning - but you get into that. Tabulator is for switching items and the numbers (1-0) are for the character stats, inventory, map and so on.
So far, from what ive seen tho as a life-sim, it has a great basis to be something cozy and enjoyable, i am a big fan of that this game is not like every other life-sim out there. You can just life a simple life and that is feeling great so far, so i will surely try out the early access version the next days! :)
