At the same time you can also have e.g. puzzles on hard, so the difficulty of the game is customizable in those three separate areas, to your personal preference.
Bossfights are a bit of a mix between puzzles, platforming and combat, so they require a bit of everything and tend to have several phases.
100% agree! I'm playing and very close to the end of Evil Within 2 on GoG right now, and it's a great game overall, but as in so many games these days, the friggin boss fights are a real negative compared to the bulk of the moment by moment gameplay. Why do so many games have to have these tedious, pointlessly difficult boss fights just because a bunch of masochists bought a lot of copies of Dark Souls? Let the masochists keep playing Dark Souls clones, and leave the rest of us out of it. As for Trine, I also thought combat in earlier Trine games nothing more than an annoying distraction from what I actully liked about the games. Every time I entered a new area and a bunch of enemies popped up, I just sort of sighed and said 'OK, just have to grit my teeth and get through this annoyance so I can get back to the real game.'
Also, Dark Souls is nowhere near as hard as it's been portrayed. Not even on Ninja Gaiden's level.
A lot of people like a true challenge, and the feeling of surpasing it, me including.
Thats why Souls games became so famous in the last decade. They don't hold your hands and they let you feel every victory you get.
For those who dislike it, just play in the dumb difficulty. You will have the option to choose. It's not like someone having a gun pointing to your head saying you should play on hard difficulty.
Also, i really appreciate that devs are putting their efforts to deliver challenging experiences for those who want.
Thanks to this gIT Gud cult now many games that are NOT about combat are tryind to put something for them and we fear that they forget their own essence. Let other type of players enjoy other type of games and get back to your souls-like dumbning games.
The topic of your thread is exactly this. I don't have any business going to souls games asking for easier gameplay, (and I don't really want anyway) as others don't have any business asking to change the essence of games for the sake of their own desires.
The beauty of having a ton of types of games is exactly that, there is games for any type of person.
With that said I really trust what devs have for us, and of course I don't mind the combat with different difficulties AS LONG AS the essence of Trine games do not suffer with it.
