Its great to see that a community fixing some of the flaws in this game has popped up so fast.
Thanks for posting this!
But I don't know if I'm just not far enough into the game for this to be an issue but I kinda like it the way it is right now, the HUD glitches do annoy me a lot more, but aiming is not a problem for me except when there's a big explosion right on my face, and it makes me feel like it's more realistic, it would be hard to aim through all of that smoke
Thats the beauty of mods, if you want to leave it as is, thats great!
Personally, I prefer being able to actually have some idea of where my guns are aiming, especially when piloting a big ship with a lot of guns and armor. Firing off several different types of guns at once its good to see which general direction they will go...
I can see both points myself. On the one hand, the vanilla pointer does make the battles hectic with pot-shots firing in all directions in a very cinematic dakka fest. On the other hand, it is just one among many frustrating things the UI does for the sake of increasing the difficulty.
The tipping point to me was the fact that you need a good situational awareness to survive, you need to carefully gauge the target movements to lead your shots, but then the tiny turret icon forces you to look back at your ship to actually take aim. That goes completely against the flow of the battle, and why a bigger icon you can more easily discern helps a lot in that regard.
In the end, this is the kind of things that is best suited for a mod: you had an issue with those pointers? This is probably a suitable fix. You like the original? Keep it! We don't need to ask the dev to change what they felt was best for their game.
