Trying to create a new character - clicked on settings up top, now can't select a birthday

I was in the character creation page for single player, was making a character and was on the birthday part when I clicked on settings and it bumped be all the way back to the main screen. So I lost my progress. I went back to the character creation part and then it wouldn't let me click through the months to select my birthday.

There's also an issue where if I select the sun dress, and I click above to change hair or something, the sun dress disappears and my character is in a shirt.

I had to reload the game so I could finally pick a birthday.

I just got the game and I’m stuck on the birthday part as well. Is there really no any other ways to set your birthday in this game on the Steam Deck?
