Dizzy fight won't activate.

I've gotten it to start before but since updating my game, I have tried multiple times and I am unable to get it to activate at all when I barely had to do anything originally.

To activate you need to hit him with your pickaxe when hes asleep. Not sure if you need a specific lv but Sunite works

I had a glorite pick but it wasn't working. I grabbed my mithril one and brought it in as backup and now it's letting me target and hit him. Dunno why it didn't work the first time.

I used a adamant pick & it worked. Died & went back but now hitting him does nothing. Do I need a stronger pick if I failed the first time?
