Entire Save File Disappeared

I've been playing a character for over 30 hours and got a black screen while in the mines. I restarted the game and the entire characters save file is gone from the load menu. Is there anyway to get it back? How can I prevent this from happening in the future. It's really frustrating to put so much time into a character and have all of that just disappear.

*EDIT* I found my character when I clicked the button "Backups* button in the load character screen. I completely missed that this button was there and available! I'll leave this post up for anyone else who might run into this issue. Hopefully it might help!

Had a similar issue except my game didn't crash. I was playing in a multiplayer session with 3 other friends. I went to bed for the night. Decided to play today and my character save isn't there at all. It saved no progress.

C:\Users\{USER}\AppData\LocalLow\Pixel Sprout Studios\Sun Haven\Saves

There should be your save and a backup folder, maybe you can find it there!

I feel silly now! I pressed the back ups button in the load character screen and my character was there! Thank goodness! maybe your character is still in that back up tab. I would check if you haven't!

I was able to restore my character in the backups tab in the load character screen but thank you so much for that alternative option as well in case it happens again!

Same happend to me, but i cant find even in the backups :(

This just happened to me too, but the save file isn't appearing in the backups tab either. I can see both the save file and the backup file in the file location, but even when verifying the files it then took 20 minutes to load through the menus and I still can't load my save file.

I just had the issue with a multiplayer world. By going into singleplayer I was able to reverse the problem. It seemed like it was crashing, but after about a solid minute of generating a new world, the character returned.

I had the same issue - found it in backups, clicked restore, and then it completely disappeared from both backups and save tabs. :( waaaaaah I was so far too. I emailed the devs...hopefully they can shed some light.

I did something very weird which has worked (I think...) I opened the game, went to the main menu, then went into my files and actually deleted all save files except the files in the backup folder. I went back to the game and tried to load a character and it worked...

I think my above comment is kind of right, but not totally right-- I think it might take 10-20 seconds for the game to load your files. I alt tabbed and went on youtube while the Items loaded, then went to look for my save. It wasn't there-- but, when I went to my folder with my save files, I saw the save files in the folder, but not in game. I decided to check my game after ~20 seconds and the save files were in the game, even though I didn't really do anything except wait.

I lost like 6 hours of gameplay when I cutover to play on my PC from the Steamdeck. WTH

The PC warned me, and I thanked it kindly and declined to load the game to avoid this problem.

Went to the Steamdeck, turned it on, it said it synced, and then went to the PC to play, no warning this time.

THEN LOST DATA. Went to Steamdeck, PROGRESS LOST, what the heck
