Can't make a new character ?

So.... I have a weird problem. It's been so long since I played. so I decided to make a new game so I can casually re-learn everything. But I cant make a new character, whenever I got into the game after I made new character, it loaded my character from my old saves instead, with high stats and great equipment, which was kinda frustrating. I tried deleting every saves, it still did the same thing. Whats worse is that I tried deleting backup saves, and it wont delete the saves, so I am really confused.

And yes, I already tried clean re install, idk what to do anymore....

you could try to turn of the steam cloud for the game and then delete them again.

Have you tried to use the "reset progress" option ? Will only work for the actual character sadly. If you plan on changing race/job then i do not know.

I did, but seems like it didnt really work. I think the last effort that I need to do is to log out, uninstall steam, and reinstall everything.

While this doesnt help my case, it still helped me in a way to re learn everything that I forget. Thank you for the advice.

You can also try to re-install or to check the files to see if anything is corrupted

As I said, I already tried clean re install, meaning verifying the game (nothing's changed), deleting every backup saves, uninstall, deleting everything in my pc that connects with the game (even the screenshot files), and re install it again.

Would you mind updating this thread with your pc specs, what OS you use (windows/mac, version etc) you are using? (It helps devs a lot.) You may get better help from devs on their discord which you can get the link from the game's title page (if memory serves? Don't quote me on it :P)

Also noteworthy: have you made sure your drivers/OS is up to date, have you tried verifying integrity?

This does sound like a local issue, because a lot more people would be complaining if it was an actual problem with the game.

Thank you for reminding me of this thread. Funny enough I already found a "fix", and for my OS specs, its capable of running the game without this problem before. I have a laptop and a desktop and I even test it on my cousin's laptop and this problem still occurs.

That being said, my "fix" was, to delete all my saves, its okay if the game still registers that there's save files, it just being weird. Then quit the game, put my steam on offline mode. Start the game, make a new game and new character, and never skip the intro. Then the game is kinda "fixed" because now my old saves actually gone from the game even when I go to online mode.
And apparently, my friend that has similar issue (hers was only the fact that she couldnt make new game, she can delete old saves normally) followed my last step, which is not to skip the intro. In her case, whenever she skips intro, the game randomized the character instead and there's no equipment being given nor a home, hence why she cant really make a proper new game.

I do still think something must still be wrong on my end, with my game/steam cloud in terms of save data, considering I need to do all that jazz to delete my old saves, but hey at least I can play the game normally now.

I dont know if your issue as similar as mine, or maybe if you only need to do the last step like my friend did, to never skip the intro. Hope this helps you.
