Golden fruit is needed for the museum completion. So if you want to complete the museum, you need it.

Yeah, it's basically a perk to complete the museum portion, there are other perks that give way better gold return, especially since it's only a small percent for gold fruit to spawn AND you have to actually locate where it spawns.

I have an orchard on one of my farms, 4 trees of each kind. And on average I get golden fruit every day. For me it's quick and easy extra money after having finished that part of the museum. I just throw it into the shipping portal, no need to process it into anything else for more profit.
