After updating to 1.4 Lost all items in inventory
After waiting for so long we finally reached the 1.4 update, but it has a terrible side effect to some… if you update you may lose all items currently within your inventory. If there’s a way to revert let me know. Updating to 1.4 also deletes your backup save… again any advice would be appreciated. This is with and without mods installed.

The same happened to me! I lost all my animals too! :( I had more than 90 hours in this game and I won't start all over again!

This happened to me as well.

Everything on my home farm disappeared. All of my animals and my house and chests, and all of my crops. I still had everything in my inventory but besides that, everything else is completely gone. Really disappointing considering I spent MONEY on the DLC just for it to DISAPPEAR.
same here, does anyone got to revert it?

You can revert the game to version 1.3 through the beta feature on Steam. Items that disappeared from the farm will be restored, except for animals and pets. However, if you have already loaded your character in version 1.4, the items on your character will still be gone.

Please give me simple instructions
San Haven → Right-click → Properties → Betas → Opt into Betas → Find 1.3 in the dropdown menu → Update

I'm sorry, my native language is Chinese, so I can only explain using translation.

this plus finding your backup saves manually on your computer outside of the game. open file explorer > in "file, home, share, view" click view > check the box that says hidden items > go to windows (c:) > click "users" then your computer's account name > click "appdata" then select "local low" > pixel sprout studios > sunhaven > saves > copy paste your back up save to where your current save is in "saves"

also copy paste your backup saves somewhere else that's safe so you have em just in case

character is buck naked, stuck on land outside of farm, bridge to farm is gone, as is the whole farm!

If you use BepInEx It's currently broken and wipes your farm. Try uninstalling it.

I lost everything too, what a mess

If you log into a character with BepInEx installed it will eat all your items. Use the backup function on the load screen to restore them.

I went back to 1.3 with the mods and it's working

I was able to restore all my items and inventory which disappeared after loading a character on 1.4. If you have nothing under Previous Versions during those steps, my solution likely will not help, as nothing worked until I restored the install and saves/settings directories after making a backup of my backup save file.

Also before this, I tried going to Sun Haven, Properties→ Betas→changed the Beta Participation to patch 1.3 stable. (this did not bring my items back, even with a backup save file loaded. so might be unnecessary. Though it could keep 1.4 for loading again to test before turning off your mods before attempting to update again.)

However the steps I tried next did. Backup as many folders as you need to not feel nervous.

-File Explorer→ %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Pixel Sprout Studios\Sun Haven\Saves\Backups (Or C:\users\[yourusername], View-->show hidden then drill down through the AppData folder following the file path above)

Luckily I had a backup save there from 3pm today, so I copied that file to my Documents folder to preserve it. NOTE: If you have other characters that you didn't load/ruin, you should back up the whole Saves folder as well.

-Next I went to the game install folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common
-Right-clicked 'Sun Haven'→Properties→Previous Versions.

Yes! I had a version from 6/9 so I restored the install directory from that previous version. (I had to Open and copy the files over manually. The Restore was grayed out, maybe too large/many files, but copy/paste worked fine.)

Just in case, I also restored the userdata Previous Version where saves and settings are located (Remember to back up). This may not have been necessary, but I didn't try loading with just the install files restored.
-File Explorer→ %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Pixel Sprout Studios\ .
-Right-clicked 'Sun Haven' and restored to 6/9.
-Then copied my 6/12 3pm backup .save file from earlier to %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Pixel Sprout Studios\Sun Haven\Saves\ to make it the current save for that character.
-Booted up Steam in Offline mode since I'm extra paranoid.

Was feeling good when my character was no longer in underwear on the load screen. Loaded and Woot, everything I had the last time I'd played before the update was restored and back in my inventory)

I'll try to update again after removing the mod files this time. Importantly, now I have a backup save file and restoration method now.. I'll post again if successfully able to update to 1.4 after removing mods this time.
