is fishing broken?

My skill (mostly from nets, etc.) is about 23-24. I bought a high grade pole to see if that would help, plus opened up some skills, but even though the fish try and try and try, the lure bobbles only part-way down, but the mini game won't appear. I see lots of other people seem to be able to catch them...I'm not sure what is wrong.

So, the fish will bob the lure 1-3 times and you click when they actually take it underwater, not just bob it. It's possible to get the lure stuck where they will just sit there forever but I can always fix it by recasting. This usually happens when I cast close to an edge

You just need to reset your rod. It happened to me at times to I just get my rod and throw the rod again. try it

I have rotten luck with this, just use bubble, seems to be glitchy to use rod

Some spots (mostly ponds and rivers) have rocky or grassy areas where the fish cant reach when the lure is placed there for some reason. If you know those spots and place the bait elswhere it works fine.

Thanks to you all. I HAVE recast (being sure I was away from edges, etc. I've had two fish sometimes, trying and trying, unable to drag the lure under water. I've tried waiting for at least 5 min., then recast, etc. to no avail.

What is this 'bubble' mentioned?

its a fishing spell. It auto catches fish. The fishing with a rod can be fustrating as many spots the lure lands the fish cant get to.

I also struggle to cast 1/2 the time, despite facing the water, my guy just out right refuses to cast

Are you clicking whey they bite? You have to click for the minigame to start.

nah, their issue is the fish 'getting stuck' its more common on NV than any where else. Once you learn all the spots to cast its not THAT bad, but shoudn't have to cast from such specific spots imo

(if these where the only kinda bugs the game had I could forgive it but these are just some of the smaller/doesnt matter bugs it has)

Ii thought you had to wait until the lure is drug under water and the mini game appears...it doesn't...not at all... When I first started the game, it did ONCE...and I failed. Then only one other time and it went away so quickly I didn't have time to click even once. I've tried in home ponds and off docks...I can cast, but the mini game just won't appear. If I click without it appearing, it ends the try.

So how do you get the 'bubble'? Is it an option in skills? Maybe I don't have enough skill yet to get that...

oh maybe you ARE doing fishing wrong. play with sound on, and on 1 out of 3 of the attempts it will make a differnt noise, that is when you click. (It can be hard to hear diffrence at first, esp if tone deaf. third one is always a hit if makes it that far)

its a level 30+ skill in fishing, you COULD use nets to get there and/or fishing totems

but if the fish moves towards the bobber and just stops w/o attempting, its stuck and you'll have to recast

edit: are you on mac? mac fishing is bugged fyi

The fish always seem to TRY, and TRY, and TRY...I don't hear anything...I can try increasing the sound (altho my hearing is pretty good); thank you, it's certainly worth a try. I've always loved fishing in games until this one. I just thought I remembered the lure going completely under the water and the mini game appeared...maybe I was wrong...dunno.

Ok, so my skill isn't high enough yet to get the bubble spell. I have quite a few nets out and a fishing totem as well...that's how I got it to 23 or 24 (can't call, but about there).

The minigame DOES NOT start by itself, you have to click a button for it to start. When the bobble starts shaking violently you click the button once and them the minigame starts. If you are using a mouse it the left mouse button, idk what button is on the controller.

No, I'm not on mac...and I did just now try increasing the sound. I could hear the difference and on my 3rd try I caught one! Yay! Thank you!
