I smashed rocks for a whole week and didnt get a single book. Are there any tips for this or its just rng?

its RNG, but they can come from EVERY rock. Instead of going through whichever mine as usual just going for ores, go for big groups of basic rocks and Vacuumulus those down.
It still wont be super fast, but once giant bundles of rocks stop just being a wall in the way, it goes a bit quicker. You dont need to strip mine floors, but saving your spellcast if you have it for big groups speeds it up a lot

How many books are there, actually? now that I see this post I think I have about 5 or so stashed in my first home. But the withergate books are incredibly rare in comparison. Only got 1 after multiple kingly tickets spent.

5 for each mine, so 15 total. Since you spend a lot less needed time in either of the other town ones, they felt a lot more annoying and those i did end up strip mining floors. Since you can counterfeit withergate tickets though, those felt less bad of the 2, since their entrance resources wernt as rare

Fair warning... Book #1 at Withergate is a challenge to find. I've been mining forever and am lucky to find any books at all there. Ugh!

Its so annoying cuz WintherGate and Nel Vari mines are just useless to farm. You cant even buy skill books from their stones... Taking ages

yeah, Ive been buying mining speed increases from Nevari, Withergate mining speed increase potions and mana increasing glorite just to get the process done with faster
