Does it have more content than Stardew Valley?
The base game asking price ($25) is much more than Stardew Valley ($15). Does it really have double the Stardew Valley content for the price disparity?

Asking because the steam reviews looks promising and comparable to SDV. Recent Reviews: Overwhelmingly Positive.

Also will it be continuously updated for years to come like Stardew? I see no roadmap.

Having sunk almost 170 hours in Stardew and now about 190 i think in this I'd say yes it does. To a fault almost.

With 3 separate towns to explore, NPC's and romanceable in each (tho only 3 in each of the other two ones), 3 separate town currencies, 3 farms to use with unique layouts and corps for each, sheds, workshops, barns, coops, other specific of coop, unique barn animals from each region than can be placed and reared in any of the farms. A somewhat interesting if maybe slightly thin story arch. 3 separate mines with similar but marginally different mechanics. Crafting, crafting, AND MOAR CRAFTIN. A highly customization character option as well as pets galore, several mounts, honestly there's quite a bit I am forgetting.

That being said, to go back to my previous statement saying it does have double the content to a fault. It can be quite overwhelming having to micromanage so many various things. But if you don't try and semi-speedrun thought the content, and just take it as it comes, making small bits of progress, enjoying your time immersed in this world, it can be quite enjoyable. Just don't try and make use of all the content at once and everything should be fine. Pick something at first to focus on, farming, mining, heck even combat and once you feel comfortable enough move forward with something else and eventually all the gears click and turn in unison.

Hopefully that helped make an informed opinion on this matter.

I don't play Stardew Valley so, I can only tell you that there are 3 different towns in the game and you'll get a farm in each town.

I think it has more content, you just can fly through it faster than Stardew because you don't have to worry about energy.

It's got a fair amount of content. Base Stardew, without mods, doesn't really have a grand overarching plot. This game kinda does. I don't want to spoil, but there's plot arcs and such in this game. Plus you don't have to worry about stamina. Health and mana sure, which you can use as a time-saving resource.

YMMV. This game has a lot but it's not as well thought out as Stardew. There's a lot of jank. I'd say it excels in customization, combat, while jank is still improved over Stardew, it has bosses etc. Lots of variety to everything. Weaknesses are cohesion, QoL, buggyness, and writing. Stardew is for sure the better made game, but this one might be more "fun".

Tbh Stardew price is an exception, there is no other farming sim with a decent amount of content that costs so little, normally they're all about $20-30

i dont know how big the other regions are but if each region in the game is as big as the first then i can see this being 2 or even 3x bigger than stardew. the content is also much better paced imo with many activities and cooking food providing permanent stat bonuses with diminishing returns for each individual food item, so it actually makes cooking all kinds of things fun, unlike stardew where i barely cooked at all.

personally the pixel graphic style is also far superior

edit: as is the skilltree

I've only been playing this for about 10 hr's, but there's definitely more content. Having talent tree's, alone, creates multiple run-thru's. Usually, Stardew's a one and done deal, but having specializations creates different runs when you play this. Also, there's much more personalization with all of the decor, armor, and different crafting stations. It's worth the extra $10, but if you can find it on sale, that'd be best.

Based on my hours alone, I have put about 150 into Sun Haven, and 57 into Stardew.

Both are great games - I feel like Sun Haven caters much more to having 'more to do' while Stardew always felt like a 'completionist' game to me. Unlike the community center in stardew which is its driving force of the player doing things outside of repairs and mining, the museum in Sun Haven is completely optional.

As much as the story of Sun Haven isn't going to win any awards - there is at least a story to follow, I never felt that way when I was playing Stardew. On the flip, there are less overall 'secrets' and small interactions with individual characters in Sun Haven.

The actual farming aspect of sun haven is a bit more involved, and the combat in particular is leaps above Stardew (although nothing insane, just, actually feels like a top down style combat game ala Secret of Mana and those games)

I will say that the mods for Stardew are much more developed and add more content than Sun Haven will likely see anytime soon, simply due to the age of the game and its overall popularity.

Stardew is definitely a completionist game. I only learned of both games from watching Floydson play them, and Stardew seems to have a ton of in-game achievements.

I would say these are two different styles of games, Sun Haven feels more like a MMO with lots of content, quests, farms, and story but it suffers from too much content and lack of depth. It feels more flat and made more for children, nothing wrong with that as I love the rainbow and sparkles everywhere but the characters are pretty boring overall. It also doesn't feel like you really affect any community with any noticeable gameplay changes etc.

I would say QOL in stardew is better in many ways, I'd consider it less grindy but it's a earlier game that is focused more on farming sims like Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons and Rune Factory. It feels like it has more secrets and like you actually help characters who have some depth. It's more focused on farming whereas Sun Haven is focused more on cooking and crafting. Sun Haven suffers from inventory management issues and doesn't have systems like My Time At Portia where you can go through one chest to access all of your stuff, nor does it offer harvest moon/story of season options where you can expand your inventory.

Sun haven has massive balancing problems but I think it will likely change as it goes on. Like there is literally no reason to use any other fertilizer then slime.

I played both and didn't use mod in both game so base on vanilla i would say that i enjoyed Sun Haven more, it has a lot to do and 3 cities for you to discover, each has their own barn and farm base on city theme. There's a lot of improve compare to SD in the setting like you can choose how long your day will be or not to get hurt in fighting etc... both are great in their own way, i agree that SD has more depth in story line but not much of a different if you're into having fun with running around doing stuff only

Keep in mind SDV is one of, if not the most successful indie title to date. I believe it's the 3rd of 4th highest rated game on Steam, and that doesn't include all the other platforms it's on. So SDV receiving major DLC size updates, and new content over the years for free, is because of how successful it's been for Concerned Ape. Few other devs can afford that.

SDV will always be great and hold a special place with me, but right now I'm enjoying Sun Haven much more. When you play a farming sim without an energy bar, it's hard to go back to all the others with them.
I also enjoy the combat in this game, whereas I tend to dread it in SDV.

lot more of content, they're also updating it every month so isn't finished yet, still way more content than SV

yeah i cant even begin to imagine how to manage 3 farms at once at the base day speed lol. thankfully theres a lot of handy mods that can take the micromanagement stress down a little. some i recommend would be:

Craftable Items Info (ctrl click tells u what it is used to craft into)

Museum Tracker (tells if an item is needed and how many are needed in the museum or dynus altar)

No More Deadlines (quests no longer expire and get pushed to the next day)

Time Management (use this together with Configuration Manager to speed up, slowdown or even freeze time on the fly)
