Fence doesnt do anythiing?

I put up a fence around my garden and when I wake up magically somehow 3 purple ulgy dogs are eating my SH(T???? How do you stop this

Use scarecrows or turn them off.

Farming table and wheat can build you scarecrows for seasonal pests, you can also buy them at the farming store.

Or you can turn them off entirely in the game options if you find scarecrow management annoying.

I find they keep your animals from wandering all over, namely keeping them in pen you set up viva the fence them in. I current have a cow in a small pen with a feeding station in with a collector outside of the pen. Silo is great as I usually need a feeder for outdoor animals along with the collector and feeding stations.

Fences are mainly decorative. Even if you don't use them, your domestic animals won't wander too far from where you place them. Also, they don't keep out pests.
