Sun Haven or Stardew Valley
What is a more enjoyable farming crop experience? I really love the idea of farming and collecting crops. Which of the two games is more fun for it? Or is there another game you would reccomend?

They're fairly similar; SH has more fantasy elements than SDV does. As far as gameplay, SH is a bit rougher as it's a newer game, so it would depend on how you like to play. Most of the complaints/bugs seem to be centered around 1) Controller Support and 2) Multiplayer. If you prefer single player on a PC with Keyboard/Mouse, SH is fine. If you want to do mutliplayer & use a controller... maybe go with SDV.

Gameplay-wise, SH is a bit more forgiving than SDV in my opinion. More options in the settings to do away with seasonal pests; there's a toggle for Invincible if you don't like combat; you can set the day length to anything between 15-40 minutes, etc. SH has a more in-depth skill tree, and wider variety of gameplay IMO. However the game is still being worked on and there are things like not being able to have kids if you get married, etc. that are present in SDV. Both games are easily modded, with quite a few quality of life mods on Nexus.

FWIW, I've put a lot of hours into both games and I think if you like farming sims, either will work for you, with the caveats about gameplay style noted above.

There's also no stamina bar in sun haven so you can do whatever you want whenever you want

Obligatory reminder to ask the same question over at Stardew Valley.

Personally, the movement in Sun Haven feels less restricted and the overly cutesy art style can be nice.
But Stardew Valley is way bigger with actual depth and goals to aim for. And its developer isn't a C-Word.

San Haven is more diverse than Stardew Valley. So many choices of things to do. There are many characters and many locations that are very beautiful :steamhappy:

The biggest drama were of course the DLCs, their pricing and timing.
And Kickstarter backers are still waiting for the Switch key, with Pixel Sprout Studio ignoring every request to trade them for a Steam key, blaming Nintendo for the delay instead.
But on the PC and less optional site of things, stuff like broken delayed promises, unfixed problems, fixes coming with ever new problems and feedback getting ignored.
All this painted Pixel Sprout Studios in an unfavorable light.

The last time I checked the next update promises the long awaited actual Controller Support, the Switch release and a lot of content though.
If they can actually deliver this time and don't try to hook us up to milking machines again, I'll gladly eat my words.

Nothing really, they're working on several small projects while updating as whats coming for sun haven is taking time.
This game IS rougher but its also sever years younger.... and imo in a better place then stardew was at the same point.
In fairness, Stardew is also originally a single person working, and the man seems to be a sweetheart.
This dev is fine, people on here are just entitled.

I would say at this moment Stardew Valley, for one reason: It's on every platform.

The moment Sun Haven is on nearly all platforms I would say Sun Haven is better. I feel like in our modern gaming scene games like this thrive on handheld platforms (Switch and Steam Deck) and so far we haven't seen it move over to either of those.

Thats.... also fair.
I personally like sun haven better but stardews npc's are better overall... which merely takes time

I think there's more variety in Sun Haven. There's no stamina. There's magic. Both games are great though.

This is a hard choice, because I love both very much - but in different ways. Stardew Valley is like no other, I felt an attachment and wonder there unlike anything else, but yeah it does start off slow as a farming game, and you do have to rely on an energy system, too - but it was an adventure unlocking the different crops through the seasons and finally getting enough money for trees and things. Sun Haven is still new and working out the bugs, and it has a cute story as well and plenty of farming to do with virtually no limit on how much you want to plant in a day, but some of it felt like it came too easy and I don't feel quite as invested in the characters or story... but it's still a lot of fun!

I say buy both... maybe wait until a sale?

It's good, I haven't had a lot of time to play it (only about 4 hours or so) but it is worth it if you like the cozy/farm type game. I wish it had dinosaurs though. I think it's more "ice age" though and I was hoping it'd be more like the prehistoric era of Chrono Trigger.

Honestly if you can wait for the winter sale, get them both! 225 hours in stardew and quite a few in sun haven, and I think I enjoy them equally :D
