Date issues
I can't figure out if I missed something or if the game is bugging out.

I'm at 10 hearts with Lynn, Liam, Wornhardt, and Claude. I'm at something over 7 with Lucia, Kitty, Jun, and Catherine

I've had 2 dates with Wornhardt, Catherine, Kitty, and Lucia and Lynn. Jun I accidentally missed a date, and had to give a love letter.

Claude and I have never had a date, and I've never had the quest pop up. If I give him a love letter, it says we aren't close enough even though we're at 10 hearts. Liam and Wornhardt have only done the first date.

If someone can either confirm if these issues are likely a bug or explain a bit better than the wiki and reddit on what's affecting this, I'd really appreciate it!

The letters are a relic of any older update from what I've read. You gotta click the heart next to their name in your book to be able to date them. I'm only dating Lynn so can only personally confirm that everything worked as expected with her and i'm at like 15 hearts or so with her.

If you missed a date you can never get it back.

I got the letter to work on one person, so maybe it still has some functionality? I'll try the book thing, thanks for the tip!

I get that if I miss the date, but most of them haven't even had one pop up. Jun's I missed, but Claude, for example, I'm very confident has not had a date option pop up.

I'm getting close to reaching 15 hearts with Wornhardt and have never gotten a prompt from him about going on a date, and later he references the date (I think in a letter?) So I'm assuming i some how missed even picking up the date option quest? I was really excited for it when jun asked me out on a date in a different save file. So I'm a bit confused and bummed out :(

Right? I really think there needs to be more opportunity to get the date scenes as a whole.

i actually went back to that save file to do Jun's date and the quest in my quest log was just straight up missing so I'm even more confused. *sigh* i was really looking forward to seeing it. OTL

More info on the Jun Date incase this helps anyone or they can help me: I talked to Jun while going about my day and he invited me to go on a date with him. I agreed and got the quest in my quest log. I think he said to meet at his house at 10 am? but i no longer remember and didnt bother to fully commit it to memory or write it down because it WAS in my quest log. I finished up my day and went to bed, and woke up. Then I decided to take a break from the game to go start making dinner (IRL) and i exited the game thru the menu/settings menu and then closed the game. I booted that save file earlier today. I couldn't remember where or when to meet Jun so I was checking the quest log but the quest was no longer there. Its like 8 am in game. So I decided to just go to Jun's house and wait there and see if it would still trigger the date event, but nothing happened.

I ended up alt-f4-ing the game after that since i wasnt sure how i wanted to move forward after that. I'm trying to decided if I should just restart a new save or I've read of a memory loss potion? (Which i think is a really lame way to deal with missing date events but idk the history of the development of the game. Maybe there is a very good, specific reason the devs decided to do it this way?)

I've also had some issues with dates, specifically with Claude. I finally got his first date at 10 hearts but I was so confused.

What happened was I was befriending mainly Claude and Catherine at about the same time, but I was gaining more hearts with Claude. I got the first letter from both of them. And Claude let me go to his house. But then Catherine gave me her keepsake charm item and I got to ask her out. This was around the 5 heart level for her. I was confused why Claude's date hadn't unlocked when he was higher level, but I kept giving him presents. I thought maybe he was harder to romance given he isn't sociable.

By the time he was at 8-9 hearts, Claude had sent me letters with a record gift and a piano gift but still no date. Then I found his special keepsake gift, the spare house keys, in the town hall to be purchased. I didn't get it, how did I miss this gift? And I wondered if maybe I HAD to have the spare keys to unlock dates. I hit 10 hearts with him and decided to buy the keys even though it was expensive. The next day I talked to him and FINALLY got the first date.

But then after the date I talked to him and he GIFTED me the spare keys?! So now I have 2 of them and I'm not sure if my theory that I needed the keys gift to trigger the date is correct or not.

I missed a date once and was not able to get another one no matter what I tried. So I looked and found a mod on Nexus Mods that removes the timer on quests, so if I miss a date I can just go the next day. Handy for the stupid seashell quests too.

Man, this really should be fixed. I feel like inconsistent date triggers would be okay if it wasn't something that would be missed permanently.

Thanks for the suggestion! Mods might be the solution for some of my more critical QOL issues for now.

TLDR: You can accidentally bug date quests by progressing hearts too fast or asking an NPC to be your partner before doing the date quests. To fix this, use a Memory Loss Potion (50 community tokens at Bernard) to reset your dialogue/quest statuses with romanceable characters (it doesn't actually reset hearts though).

So I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think you can accidentally bug the dates if you ask the NPC to be in a relationship with you BEFORE the date quests have triggered, or if you've progressed with heart levels too fast - specifically, getting to 10 hearts before you've accepted the 1st date quest at 4 hearts.

The problem is, I don't specifically know when the date quests trigger. I know it's at 4 and 10 hearts respectively, but the quests themselves are not always necessarily available immediately after reaching those levels. If you increase the heart levels too fast and you get to 10 hearts before doing the first date quest, then the quest will no longer appear. Consequently, the second date also will not trigger because you never did the first date, which is a prerequisite to the second.

That would make sense with my experience. Appreciate the insight!
