That's the closest group of mobs to a screen edge/exit that I can think of.
It's very low drop rate. There's no faster way unless you use the cheat menu.
Depending on how slow your load times are, I would say CluelessWonder's idea is good, but waiting on those load screens could even out with just waiting for respawns.
With a 0.2% drop rate, you would expect to get one every 500 monsters. So far I am at 1700 Arcbugs and Hornsnakes without any joy.
I know it's random, but I do feel like there should be some script that makes it drop automatically if it hasn't yet done so by a certain point.
5 enemies spawn there, theres a chance to get them all in 1 spellcast, and lightning is screen wide, so you dont actually need to move away from the map transition.
cast the spell, move a few steps or an air skip west, go back and if it didnt drop, kill the new ones that instantly respawned.
i do absolutely agree a pity drop mechanic would be great though. Certainly not everything needs it, but those swords can be rough considering the combat is "have fun exploring or gathering in several areas" and not "grind one map spawn to be efficient"
