What happens if you dont water crops?

If you miss watering crops do they die? If yes is it missing one day of water or more, and do fully grow crops also die if not watered?

got the elf farm unlocked but have like 300 crops on main farm and its a hassle going back and forth making sure everything is watered while trying to improve the elf farm

To my point of understanding, your crops do not wither instantly, obviously they dry up after a couple of days (I don't know how many exactly) and their growth time can also be lengthened, you say you have like 300 crops?
