I saw a review that said it phases you in boss fights, so you have to fight them separately. Is that true? My brother and I purchased this and we're now considering refunding it because of that alone.
I really want to like this game but something like that is definitely a deal breaker.
I mean, say ur friend wants to play with u.....
can u use your own character to join them?
Or must you join ur friend's server and create your own character from scratch?
Sorry, we haven't reached any bosses yet, so I can't answer
Edit: just found a boss and yes, that is true.
I am still able to play singleplayer with my multiplayer character, so I would guess it is possible to join with your own character.
is it like
- Terraria?
(Able to use your own high leveled character to join others)
Or is it like
- Stardew Valley?
(In order to play together, you have to join the HOST to create your character to be able to play with HOST and the only way you can access that character of yours is IF the host is online? i.e. You can NEVER access that created character of yours WITHOUT the HOST)
I was able to create a character, play solo, and then join the multiplayer with the same char. So I would say it is more like Terraria.
That said, while I like the game, the coop is disappointing if I'm being honest, mainly because there's not that much of actual coop to it (unless this changed with 1.0). It's more like playing two singleplayer games in the same world, as you can't really do quests or fight bosses together.
Hi, to answer your question this is true, yep! Multiplayer in this game is basically non-existent other than players existing in the same world. Pets in multiplayer are buggy (from when I played) and the story progresses differently for each player. Bosses are also instanced on a per player basis, so you are essentially doing the campaign separately.
The multiplayer experience is poor and its honestly false advertisement to even call it multiplayer or co-op.
The only reason I wish to be getting this is because of co-op
...... guess I wouldn't be getting it after all.....
What a stupid post. Learn your facts before you decide to post about what something is or isn't.
Besides, why not just watch some multiplayer videos and make your own decision rather than trusting what people are spewing? Make your own judgement.
