Killing Floor 3

Killing Floor 3

Old Tripwire team, are you still there?
What is this?

Where are the people who made RO1, RO2, KF1 and KF2? Can I talk to them? Do they still care about what they are creating?

I saw the gameplay and if it didn't say "Killing Floor 3 gameplay" in the title of the video, I wouldn't have believed my eyes.

Horrible "Babby's first Unreal Engine 5 project" UI, gameplay, and animations. Not a single real or realistic gun model in sight. From Tripwire, of all developers: detail focused and innovative gun nerds. This is a huge shock for me. Like the death of someone you know.

This is NOT Killing Floor 3. It's not even good enough to be a "fan game". Clearly, you're making interns do all the work because THIS CARRIES NONE OF THE DNA of the previous Tripwire games. AT ALL. It feels no different than mediocre indie and double A shooter demos I've played last year, lookswise and functionalitywise.

I've been automatically pre-ordering your games for decades, I used to trust you THAT much. I never do this for any other developer.

Canceled my pre-order for the first time. And the trust is gone. Please hire your seniors back, or tell them to ease off the work on the interns.

Taking another look at it, I'm being too harsh on the interns.

Even interns, directed well, could have made it AT LEAST LOOK AESTHETICALLY CLOSE TO KILLING FLOOR 1 AND 2.

Even if the old Tripwire team is still there directing some interns, they didn't even try directing. Or they simply don't care about anything other than making money.

Aesthetically, this game simply looks like a generic Unreal Engine 5 shooter. Horribly stiff animations, disgustingly generic UI, and heartbreakingly mediocre gun model design and whatnot aside.

Please refund.

I've been playing Red Orchestra and Killing Floor for nearly 2 decades. I love these games, I loved and trusted Tripwire so much I always pre-order without even seeing any gameplay. I did so again, and when I saw the gameplay video I was shocked.

I understand how you feel, but take another look at the gameplay, block out the Killing Floor 3 name, be fully honest with yourself and ask yourself:

"Would you still have thought 'This random game is a true successor to KF1 and KF2', and bought it, if it didn't say "Killing Floor 3" on it?"

Trust has been slowly chipped away by insane over-monetization of a once loved fan franchise... Now nothing remains to believe in any way that this game could be anything but a "cash on the IP" type of a move we would expect from take two and alike.

I didn't mind the monetization as long as it was just cosmetic.

But this, is something different. This is compromising on what the game itself is supposed to be. This is simply not Killing Floor.

That, is not so easily dismissed for me.

Just buy it in a bundle in a year or so like anyone with sense did with the last game when they said "lmao sorry we're not making the class we promised we would, have more DLC"

- "This game isn't Killing Floor. It's an unplayable generic mediocre shooter."

- "Just buy it!"

Do you have zero reading comprehension?

I blame the creative/game directors.

From an article on Starbreeze's failure in part due to OTWD, this is how I imagine the process goes when games stray from the franchise

From unreasonable demands ("Let's make it like The Division! / No, we don't have nine months to put that together...") to dramatic changes ("I've been playing a game all weekend and I've got this great idea, let's do an exploding zombie! / You've been playing Dying Light..."), staff struggled to cope with a project that had no cohesive vision or leadership. "Every day there would be a different change," one person said.

"I need the game designer to tell me the intention of his design, so I can make something the user will follow," another said. "In most cases the reasoning behind stuff was the game they played over the weekend. You would hear stuff like, can we have this like Far Cry? We start making it, and two weeks later, can we have this like Assassin's Creed? Dude, just tell me what you want to do, and I'll make it so. Don't worry. Just tell me what you want to happen."

killing floor 3 and '83 , aren't being created by the same developer team you knew in the past.

Just saw this.

Now everything makes sense.

I doubt a Chief Financial Officer cares about anything other than money.

I guess my question is answered.

Times change and money situations change. In order for Tripwire to stay afloat they probably needed to bend the knee to the modern casual gaming and accessibility carrot chasing crowd.
