Sorry for the late reply, I didn't notice your question! The music in the game is currently rather limited, the song in the trailer is only for the trailer itself. I rather like it, but I can understand that it is not for everyone :)
In answer to your questions:
1) You start out with a rather small factory which you can upgrade. The sizes are currently balanced to fit the stage of the game you are in. As with most things, factory sizes can be tweaked with mods.
2) I have a roadmap though currently it is not laid out in trello just yet.
3) It is goal oriented, the goal and the narrative depend on the mod. As there is currently one mod (the main game), there is one story line. It may get fleshed out during early access but there is a clear beginning and ending to the game. Though if you avoid fulfilling the end game condition(s), you can keep building and treat it as a sandbox.
Hope you like it!
It should indeed be rather simple to not stop the game once the end condition has been reached, I do need to tie up some loose ends then but I will try to add this in one of the following updates.
