Deadlock

TF3 died for this...?
Genuinely the worst game I've played all year.

- Crazy long respawn times
- Long walks to get to combat
- Combat and upgrades are beyond convoluted and impossible to learn on the fly. (I shouldn't have to do background reading/research to be able to play an online multiplayer game.
- Complete landslide games, because the game is all about upgrading your character, the more the other team destroy you, the stronger they get, meaning games are never close.
Game time is ridiculous, 45 minute games that you are forced to suffer through when your fate is often sealed in the first few minutes. You get a leaver and no one can rejoin so you just have to wait a few minutes for the option to leave yourself or suffer for 30 minutes.

Who okayed this? Value has made some great decisions over the last few years with the steam deck and Half Life Alyx. But instead of giving everyone TF3, HL3, Portal 3, LFD3, a new VR headset, they give us this abomination of a game. I get that it's in beta but the issues are at a fundamental gameplay point of view and not something that can be fixed with updates. For a company with as much money as value they just need to do better.

Its a basically a moba bro go play bot matches

It's not just a moba, its DOTA2 the fps, LoL is a moba and its gearing is FAR simpler than dotas or this.

I hate the current deadlock because the whole game revolves around farming for 20 mins and trying to deny 1xp from your enemy so you get the tiniest advantage and gear up sooner, so that after 30 mins you can finally push to win.

The combat is good, the chars are fun, but they should of skipped the farming and gear, had set power levels of characters, which would also make balance way easier (atm its a trainwreck) and made the learning curve smaller.

Could still of had lanes and pushing towers, it would just revolve around skill and aim, not who denies a creep and gets a minor xp advantage early. It's so yawn atm. It feels like the whole gear system is just a left over mechanic from dota2 and someone going "we have to include this right cause moba?" and no one knowing the answer was NO.

It's technically Team Fortress 2 and Dota 2 rolled into one ungodly abomination, summoned forth to torment our souls.

I mean it's an okayish game really, but not what we're used to from Valve. Dirty Bomb was a better moba shooter than this.

TF2 doesn't have as much impact on Deadlock as TF2 players would like to dream and reach for

Everything OP described is exactly what you have to do to play and what you experience in Dota2, LoL, Smite, etc. Thats how these style of MOBAs work. Valve has the most popular MOBA of all time. They know what they are doing. The genre is not for everyone. If you dont like 45 minute games with 10 minute laning phases about denying farm (legit one of the most interesting and fun parts of Dota2) and having to do your homework to play well, then you wont like it. Its not about Elitism, its about what this type of game is. Its already being more accessible by being a Third Person Shooter, it doesnt need to go any farther towards Fortnite

This clown thinks this is played like TF2. You're suppose to play it like DOTA you moron.

I remember back in the day when I first played TF2 I immediately understood the game and saw the potential, I immediately had fun. After playing a few matches on this game I'm just bored to tears and don't understand why people are hyping it so much. It's so unsatisfying to play and boring.

I even like DOTA and league. They are some of my most played games ever and I don't even like this game. Hell I liked SMITE more.

who is it for then? Valve players that like MOBA's? They have DOTA. Valve players that like hero shooters? They have TF2. Valve players that just want to jump on latest and greatest? They have CS2.

This game is for no one. It caters to no one. No one asked for it and no one wants it. Its only reason for existing is because Valve is fixated on finding success in a live service game that they created. They as in Valve and not the community.

I really want to play this game. I play mobas and I play hero shooters. Smite and paragon were really close to making a good third person shooter moba, but this looks like the perfect mix.

It's for people who are tired of the same old same old hero shooter and would like a little more complexity in their games. There's a reason why there are a lot of pros who are flocking to this game; you can only get so much depth from different combinations of rosters in games like Valorant and Overwatch. Interfacing a MOBA through a TPS lens is a lot more palatable to the common person and hooks them into a complex and deep MOBA via the facade of "just another third person shooter"

When you think the delusion of TF2 fanbase can't get any stronger, they somehow always find a way to impress.
Maybe you should have stayed in the game you know and love?

You must not know how Valve works as a company?
They're an incubator - dozens of games are born and die before one gets out the door.
