huge nasty memory leak
1.0 is a disaster if you go from a look in DEPOT to then drive using a Tutorial drive ... this PC has 64 GB and SimRail is on a 4 TB SSD and the memory swapping brought this PC to its knees. I said it on discord ... the nastiest full screen game moment of 2024. How did this get out as a 1.0 ?? Dang !!

I ran SimRail in early access, so nothing prepared me for this ... completely dumbed it down to anything off that has OFF in Settings and ALL else pushed left to MINIMUM, I entered the first scenario, let it load, listened to one message then hit escape: when that dialog to confirm my exit opened, i popped up an always on top Task Mgr and SimRail was at 67% of my i7 CPU. Holy crap ! Exit to main menu brought it down to 27% CPU ... not GPU, CPU, and it was sitting at its main menu as an 8GB process. So what was it when it was killing my PC ? It will not be MY job to find out: I bought this on Steam long ago and this was their out of EA and official 1.0 release in time for Rail Fan xmas. Holy Crap !

So UNITY is no way to build serious sim ?

Today the first tutorial runs but the exec is over 5GB, the i7 CPU is running 40% and the GPU is at 98% while the game sits at its main menu ... that it just nuts. What can be placing this load on the GPU ?? I have EVERYTHING set to OFF or minimums. I game on this PC, mostly UNREAL but some UNITY. This is the worst, hands down, the worst behaving game. No way this is a 1.0 ready release, even with a tiny Saturday patch.

you should always set an fps limit for games, otherwise your computer will try to create as many frames per second as it can and that will turn your computer into a firebox for a steam locomotive

Unity is not to blame. People blaming game engine for bad performance have never used it.

Everything set to minimums, as i said.
Maybe the serious actual owners, SimKol.pl don't know about this 1.0 debacle.

As someone who has over 1000 hours in SimRail I can tell you that huge optimization problem is often caused by weather & lighting / world illumination. Sometimes SimRail looks amazing and runs nicely, but then weather changes ( time of the day, clouds, lighting etc. ) and optimization is thrown out of the window.

Their real time weather system seems to be badly optimized, and after " full version " release it got even worse. They should just put every map at summer mode, full sunlight - untill this sim is properly optimized.
