E186 (Traxx) brake confusion
I love driving the E186 and know how to do most things in it just fine but I'm confused about the release of brakes. It takes so long for them to release that when doing passenger service it caused delays because I have to wait for so long before they are released. Am I missing something or do they just take a huge amount of time to release?

you dont do something wrong no worrys :lunar2019piginablanket: when a train is really long the brakes take a while for releasing because the air need to get to the last car of the train and that takes his time by longer trains

my tip here is release the brakes to 8% so it just take normaly just a few sec to released :harveyhappy:

So not going off the brake fully releases them faster?
Edit: To clear it up a little bit I'm talking about the service brake.

Okay the traxx is a bit tricky
First when you are pulling a passenger train, you have to set the brake delay to passenger mode
To do that: On the left screen click obsł. > scroll down to polożenie ham. > select P
You'll be offered 3 settings
R - Rapid (very fast, uses a lot of air, very high braking power)
P - Passenger (fast, normal air consumption, sufficient braking power)
G - Freight (slow operation, offers the least braking power)

As for the brakes releasing, you have to set the controller to 0 and wait for the E brakes to disengage and the brake pipe to fill completely (watch the gauge). THEN you can add power again. For a shortcut, you can hold the brake release button (numpad Del by default) and add power and occasionally release to see if the E brakes disengaged already.
Also there's a filling-releasing notch for the brake lever to fill the brake pipes quicker

And then there's what FightDrug said

Yea, forgot to mentione that yes, the traxx uses electronic brakes too when engaging the service brake. If you hold the brake release button, it won't use E brakes though.
And i believe this not-letting-add-power is a safety mechanism to prevent adding power while the end of the train is still braking. This is in order to prevent literally tearing the train apart

Yup knew about the E-brake and the brake bar gauge thing but I did not know I could set the brakes to passenger mode from whatever the default is. Would help if we could just take a fresh shut off train so we didn't have to guess how they're configured. Thanks for the help.

Thank you! Another lovely little detail in the game, that i did not know that even exists.

The traxx is always in freight mode which drives me nuts. But on the other hand, the siódemka is always in passenger mode by default. So for this, it's a routine for me to check the settings and change them to my needs after taking over from ai lol
