It is true that SimRail is most enjoyed when the server is near full capacity, with all the randomness humans bring to the fun of the game.
As far as I know, some components of the servers are quite centralized, so even with many game servers, there is only one EDR server, one API server etc etc.
This does not mean that dedicated servers are impossible or that they were rejected but since it's a heavier technical task (like single-player dispatching) probably it's neither yes neither no waiting to have a clearer view on the roadmap and what can be acheived in the timeframe.
Tho, a great deal of enhancements were made already to try to enhance the experience of the public servers since community feedback like regional moderators from the community, setting up a no moderation server for tests and stuff, and finally some servers are very strict regarding track closures, orther not so much.
I think the game as it is is very nice even if I would like dedicated servers to be available but I understand your point. Hope to see you one day in game ! :)
I usually host my own for friends so I don't have that much interest in joining the public server, if the functionality to host your own is not there then I'm not particularly interested in buying the game, if it does get added then I almost certainly will buy it.
Have you done this previously with a train simulator?
You'd need to line up a lot of friends to be satisfied.
But why'd you even bother making this post? Honestly sounds like something you could have just messaged to the devs on their website, etc., instead of announcing your entitlement here.
Entitlement for wanting something 95% of multiplayer games have, nice try troll but you're exactly proving my point why dedicated servers are needed, public servers always attract toxic players which is why I only play with people I can trust not to be human garbage.
I said what I meant, and I meant what I said. You literally came here to complain about them not adding a feature that they never promised, but YOU feel that YOU deserve it based on SOME other games offering it (95% is such BS, btw, but whatever helps push your agenda forward, I suppose). So much so that you even threaten to not buy the game unless they give you what you want. I.E. Entitlement.
Now if they had promised it, then never delivered, I'd say you have a point. But now I'm starting to see what the real problem is with public servers. Thanks for pointing yourself out.
It's perfectly fine for him to ask for Dedicated servers and not wanting to buy it because there is no dedicated servers.
We have given our point of view on the subject, I tried to give a bit more technical explanation of why, atleast short term, there would be no dedicated servers, and finally we tried to explain him how our experience was great.
It is fine if he is not convinced and rather wait/not buy the game because of it.
All players have their own preferences and beleives, I beleive it is important to respect them.
