FEEDBACK --> How the controls work.
From what I can make of it - driving the train is near impossible if you don't know what is what and how to do things, but.....

Ok, the two main things I've worked out there are the THROTTLE and BRAKE levers.

To accelerate you move the throttle ALL THE WAY forward. (Press and hole the num pad + key)
To slow down - using the regenerative brakes you pull back on the throttle. BUT!
DON'T pull it all the way back or the full brakes will be applied.

My view:
There are... (say) 5 positions.
Accelerate
Hold speed
"Coast" / Neutral - if you will.
Slow down
FULL BRAKES

It is annoying that if you want to slow down you have to repeatedly tap the `-` key.
Holding it down moves the lever all the way back and full brakes are applied.

IRL you can move the lever to any of the positions and not have to keep *releasing* it.

Same with the BRAKE lever.
If you want to slowly increase the brakes, you have to keep taping the (number pad) `3` key or you will apply FULL BRAKES.

So unless you are doing everything with the mouse - and even that is difficult - it is painful to try and get to the intermediate positions for those two levers.

This is not accurate, which you would know if you’d hovered the mouse over the lever(s).

The drive handle on the Pesa Elf has five positions:
- Increase acceleration/stop braking immediately
- Maintain acceleration/decrease brake force
- Decrease acceleration/maintain brake force
- Stop accelerating immediately/increase brake force
- Emergency brake.

The indirect brake valve (labelled, confusingly, ‘local brake’) has, IIRC:
- Drive (fill to 5 bar)
- Increase pressure
- Maintain pressure
- Decrease pressure
- Evacuate to atmospheric pressure (i.e. emergency brake).

Some of these positions, you have to hold the key down to hold the lever, otherwise it snaps back to a neutral position. Press the same key twice in quick succession to skip one of these positions, e.g. numpad 9 twice to put the brake handle from ‘maintain’ back to ‘drive’. Holding down the − key definitely does not trigger an emergency braking. It’ll just increase the braking force until you reach full service braking.

Hey, I am not wanting to start an "argument" about how many positions on the levers.

I **WASTED** a lot of time fumbling with the controls.
Yes, it is my opinion.

Maybe I was frustrated trying to get the feel for it. (Again: my problem)

But the *feel* of it seems wrong.

So you are saying if I press (and HOLD) the number pad `-` while moving it won't slam on the full brakes?

Strange. I am sure that is what happened a few times when I was distracted trying to get something else working and realised I had to stop.

When I get over this frustration I may give it another try. But gee it is painful trying to do things which are said in words, but I am not shown HOW to do it.

"Press the call button on the radio" after the second/third station in the example because of the red signal.

I move the mouse over to the radio and all I can find are two buttons that change the channel.

NO CALL BUTTON FOUND.

C'mon. I'm not complaining to waste your (or MY time).
This is an as honest bit of feedback on my take of how things *work* (or don't)
