Apogee logo
I wish I knew why, but seeing the new Apogee logo rendered in low-res like the original one feels really odd. It's like the new menu font in Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition - it's not worse, just different and feels wrong after being so used to the original one.

Is there any way to mod the original logo back please? Alternatively, could an 'original apogee logo' option be put into the 'gameplay options' menu?

EDIT: Success - thanks very much everyone! https://steamcommunity.com/id/finley83/screenshot/2047498313973954211/

The screenshot was taken using the following settings in AP_TITL.png.json:

"offset_x": 27,
"offset_y": 47

Also I used the original Apogee logo taken from darkwar.wad: https://i.imgur.com/Jad4bDS.png

This is because the new graphic also has an associated new palette that it uses, which is contained in ap_pal.pal inside the KPF.

However, we also ship DARKWAR.WAD and it's unchanged form the registered 1.3 version.
So you can just extract the original AP_PAL from DARKWAR.WAD using a tool like SLADE[slade.mancubus.net], put that sucker into the KPF replacing the existing file, and it should work.

I doubt this will happen... Besides, shouldn't you be playing the game vs. watching the intro animations? Start a new game and blast some cultists!

It would also make me feel better for it to be the original logo, but I feel like this is a low to no priority sort of thing.

Oh I agree. I definitely prefer their old logo - don't get me wrong. But it's a really tiny nitpick. :)

It is the lowest possible priority nitpick, agreed. However, as the final game hasn't released yet, I thought it might be worth mentioning just in case!

Apogee had us do this, but it's pretty easy to swap the old splash in the movie folder if you really want to :)

Awesome, thanks :)

If what you're looking for is not located inside any folder, you can almost certainly find it inside of the file RottEX.kpf. This file is just a renamed zip file, which means you can open it with an archive manager like 7-Zip.

Thanks! Just figured out how to change it:

1. Opening RottEX.kpf in 7Zip, navigate to the 'wad' folder
2. Download the following file - https://i.imgur.com/J3f5BCN.png - and rename it to "AP_TITL.png" without the quotation marks
3. Copy the new png file into the 'wad' folder and confirm to overwrite what is already there
4. Double click the file "AP_TITL.png.json" to open it in Notepad/Notepad++
5. Change 'offset_y' to '12' (or another figure if you don't like the positioning)
6. Save RottEX.kpf and close it. Open the game

The colours look a bit off so I'm sure there's a better way of doing it, but this is my best shot so far!

EDIT: much better solution further down!!

It's great for you boys to help us out with something this trivial.

Amazing, thanks again!
