So uh, why a random "remake" of quarantine all of a sudden?
Why did you remake quarantine, not that i don't mind, are you one of the developers of the original and wanted to make it again, or what?

yeah but from the looks of it, it doesn't look very good. i'd rather have an HD port than a remake like this, a full ground up remake would be nicer. maybe something akin to GTA and Crazy taxi?

I personally think any homage to Quarantine is worth some appreciation and attention. It wasn't a very well known game and it's best version (which is still one of my favorite games) was on a system not many people owned (3DO). So, I think it's really a matter of whether you're a fan boy like me. Granted, it's in need of refinement to even come close to being as playable as the original, but the devs are great at responding to feedback and making the necessary changes to the game.

This is two guys game made in spare time. Not sure if they even know such game as quarantine. This is definitely not remake and they have nothing to do with original game.

They've admitted as much about knowing Quarantine and it's clear they based their project on the original game.

I never really seen anyone talk about Quarantine before this game, at least not in a good long while. My guess is that they chose this game for because they knew it was niche and could get some attention out of the gate. Not a bad thing, and my guess is as good as anyone elses, but I appreciate they made something that doesn't play like most other games, even if inspired by other games. Makes me excited for any future project from them!

As for why their isn't just an actual Quarantine remaster/remake, I'm guessing it has more to do with copyright issues that anything else. I'm not even sure who owns the IP. If it was that easy, it would have been done, and I'm not sure a two man dev team would have been able to secure the license.

Right, they would have to negotiate with Take-Two Interactive, who acquired most of GameTek's assets after they filed for bankruptcy in 1997. How costly that would be is anyone's guess.

Hi guys & ladies & gents! Quarantine and Road Warrior were an inspiration to us. This is why we have decided to develop CyberTaxi as a small indie game. We are working on Ultra Update - Advanced Enemies Pooling (more vehicles and pedestrian in every district), 4K Textures & Nicer Shaders (almost done, game looks much better now), 6 Languages & Localization Pack, More Weapons & Shops and Performance Optimization. We also may change the 2D cockpit into a 3D one in the nearest future. Gaming Controller Support is also on our list. Update of such magnitude takes a lot of time. Especially when we are working on another project. But we still make progress with CyberTaxi on a regular basis. Next update will be available soon. The current owner of Quarantine / Road Warrior rights is Rockstar. CyberTaxi didn't use any sort of content of the old video games made by Gametek. This is purely our own product, made by a lot of passion and with help of various freelancers.

I know that even in the spiritual predecessor "Quarantine" that the turrets were not destructible, but is it at all possible to consider giving them some collision detection and health in "Cybertaxi"? Maybe even for other objects as well like the trash cans? Also, the game is still stuck in "Chaos City" mode, so no matter how I toggle the option, the turrets behave the same and the blur in drive-by mode makes that function unusable. Thanks again for your time.

Damn it! Inspired, remake, successor? Seriously? You may call it as you wish but IMHO it's bloody "Quarantine" (1994) rip off, way too many similarities which can't be just a coincidence. Sorry, I don't buy your story.

Seriously, indeed. What were you thinking? Just about every game that exists to this day was influenced by other games. Or could even be called ripoffs by people who have nothing better to do than displace the rage over their real-life ineptitude like yourself.

well to be honest it's kind of a rip off.
