And don't blame the players. Blame the publisher: Gameforge. They had zero intent to save the game. It's as though they wanted the players to leave with their silly translation/ voice acting/ lack of updates and failure to even give updates about the situation.
Aber hey was sollst.
This game had so much potential with an already established road-map from the developers and a passionate player-base that were warm, welcoming, and happy to have more people playing the game. You as a company were too incompetent to turn an already established success with a truly unique selling point of Chinese folklore with no reasonable competitors within the western audience.
GameForge you are a collection of the worst the gaming industry has to offer with no passion in your projects, no belief in your staff to deliver, and a disgusting fixation on the bottom line which you throw temper tantrums when the community calls you out for doing literally nothing to support or grow that community.
No company pulls servers with 30 days notice, you would have decided long before now to pull the plug but kept pushing shop news posts and sales to try and bleed every penny from the community.
TL\DR:
You couldn't even sell a game made by passionate people in a different country, that is a success in that country, because you're incompetent, greedy, and liars.
You didn't move a finger!!! And I paid 39.99€!!
And yet you have the nerve to tell us that we can still Buy things in the Shop?? What's the point of spending money now that the game will shut down by the 30th?
Maybe if you interacted more with the Community and actually LISTENED, maybe...just maybe....the game could have some relative success and motivate you to keep releasing content.
But you decided to be Greedy, Incompetents and Liars. Well, enjoy the money you made. I ain't touching any other games under your tutelage.
Company should shutdown because theres no recovering from the amount stains it has, every time I play a gameforge launch I can feel the failure coming so always bail out.
Metin2 is likely the only avenue of money that keeps them going but its a delusion at best.
Only option is to sell the licenses and close doors, don't return to the industry, don't attempt another publishing company, don't pass go, don't collect $200. And maybe then these games will recover, get picked up by a company that cares about games and they will succeed.
Nowadays when I see one of "your" game, I automatically think and this even if it has potential only in two years it will be closed. It's normal, crappy translation, anarchic update, unilateral communication and obsession with news on the shop do not make a good game (not to be offensive.)
