Don't buy at full price.
What Atlus is charging is ridiculous for the effort.

Pros:
It's better than the PS2 version, has crisp graphics and the ability to switch between Raidou/Dante scenarios (provided you pay), remappable controls and even KB+M support (this honestly shocked me). Voice acting is good (Japanese dub anyway, Atlus English dubs make me want to kill myself)

Meh:
30fps cap. I don't mind this personally, it's an 18 year old game and the logic is tied to the frame rate like most PS2 games. But I'm sure it could've been uncapped to 60fps without too much effort, someone else will mod it in eventually I'm sure.

No ultrawide support. I personally couldn't give two ♥♥♥♥♥ about ultrawide, but it's slowly becoming more standard so it shouldn't be ignored.

Bad:
The soundtrack is ridiculously compressed in battles. Sure, it's not worse than the PS2 version, but imagine if the graphics were the same resolution as the PS2 and with no anti aliasing. Please someone mod this in.

The fmvs are 4:3 which I'm fine with, again, 18 years old, but they have this awful portrait-video-in-a-YouTube-TikTok-compilation blur on the sides. Just use black bars or a static border, ugh.

Do NOT pay full price for this. $99 AUD for Digital Deluxe is RIDICULOUS. I got it cheaper elsewhere, and you should do the same. If it was $40 AUD and maybe $60 AUD for Digital Deluxe I think that would be worth it, but man it is definitely not worth a hundred ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dollars.

I got the deluxe for 60 € honestly I enjoy the game but I would like to add more "bad" :

The game resolution is locked at 1080p and cause aliasing on Demi-Fiend glowing tatoo. There is a guide to change it up to 8k resolution so no more aliasing.

If it's just an HEX edit WHY ATLUS DIDN'T PUT IT IN THE GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE !

Other than that, I have no bug to report or framedrop like on console.

I think people should be told precisely what they're getting, which well, at least compared to a certain big game that launched last December, Atlus haven't tried to obfuscate, but I find it somewhat obnoxious to preach constantly about what someone else should or shouldn't buy.

I would never say to someone, buy this if you don't think it'll be worth the money. Though I do think, Atlus could have charged less for this, but I chose to still buy it, this is the best game they ever made in my opinion. And I have bought it and I'm satisfied that it's acceptable. Whereas Persona 4, that was released at a very good price, unless your me, I wouldn't waste my time with that game if I got it for free, because I don't care for it.

I guess my point is, there's still a game here that people can choose to judge on its merits beyond the technical shortcomings of the remaster. And that game definitely holds up.

I won't pay full price bro. It's price in my region is 1/3 of my monthly income. I pay for my apartment that amount of money per month.

$70 isnt a large sum of money. I have no problem spending that on a game I already know I love and will put 100s of hours into. The game works and plays just as well as it did on ps2. Thats all I need to be happy.

I play on Ultrawide. I'd be more inclined to grab it ASAP if I could play Nocturne again on ultrawide, but I'm not even slightly surprised 21:9 isn't supported and I can wait until it's on sale because I'm not desperate to replay it either.

Typically, modern game engines are flexible about this sort of thing, given the variety of display resolutions we have now and modern developer sensibility. But if these games are designed around a specific resolution, like most older games are, then we're usually expecting too much from a port or a remaster to support a non-original ratio.

It is curious the currency discrepancy though. In the US, the Deluxe Edition is only $70 - which converts to 90.5 AUD according to here.[www.xe.com] Might have something to do with that Australian government that hates video games again?

Oh, absolutely. I was always going to get this, I really enjoyed SMT4 and SMT4A and I've always heard how amazing Nocturne is.

It's nothing against the game itself, the game itself is amazing so far and the atmosphere is so good.

But I just don't think it's worth $67 ($51 USD) for a port that there hasn't been much effort put into.

I highly doubt a functional 60fps mod will come to fruition, seeing as they couldn't make it work for FFX

Manual skill inheritance, alone, is enough to make this remaster worth it.

Hell yeah! No more skill roulette for me!

Seriously, love this game. I got so much enjoyment from the PS2 version that I happily bought the deluxe edition. Give me more, Atlus! Just inject it straight into my veins.
