I'm not sure which flashback or exactly when, but i think its before you find the lens in the attic.
I didn't speak to Leni and i didn't see her with the lens and that's why i auto unlocked Loyal when i was in the attic with Junta.
One has to speak to Leni where she talks about the lens, go to the attic and speak to Junta and there is 2 options of denouncing her or ratting her out (which i didn't get last time), and then when reuniting with Leni at the refuge she'll (presumably, since i'm not there yet) question you about why you ratted her and the achievement will unlock.
Will have to play all the way through to confirm it but it seems i understand now. Hence my previous confusion.
None of the guides emphasise how important it is to TALK TO LENI. its the prereq for the entire achievement and most guides just say 'rat on leni to junta'
5 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hours of gameplay WASTED. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥.
I tried an experiment. After playing the entire game and being loyal to Leni in segment 10-12 the loyal achievement is won. I then replayed segments 10-12 and was disloyal. When I played segment 38 Leni did not question Dani's loyalty as I hoped. I think that proves that the loyalty/betrayal decision is carried from segment to segment in the segment data rather than in some other database, so all segments from 10 thru 38 must be played so that in segment 38 the game remembers what happened in segments 10-12. Starting the game using segment 38 from the game where loyalty decisions were made would control what Leni does in that segment. Perhaps the Microids people might consider having a current game achievement database separate from the segment data so the betrayal/loyal achievement could be gained by only playing segments 10-12 and 38. The other achievements could also be gained by only replaying certain segments, such as clearing email, eavesdropping on the phone conversation, finding out about Vaghen history before opening the coffer, etc.
Indeed. If you do not talk to Leni while playing as Dana, then when Junta asks you if Leni did stole something, the dialog option letting you choose weither or not you can betray Leni does not show.
This makes sense, yet the way the dialog is skipped if you did not talk to Leni is a bit awkward. But I guess most players will have a chat with Leni on the balcony anyway.
Luckily there is a way to go back and retrieve an old save so that I only had to replay that part of the game and not things since the beginning!
