What five rod setups do you tend to run?

I'm wanting a set of rods for different fishing styles that make the fights interesting. I don't want to just power through a fish and land it easily.

What are the IG benefits of each rod type?

Spinning rods seem to have shorter range (doesn't seem to matter since you have a boat from the get-go) than baitcasters but can fish both lures and baits. Also has lower max strength.

Baitcaster rods only fish lures but have a longer range and a much higher max strength.

Match rods, I'm not entirely sure what benefit I get from them over a spinning or baitcaster rod. They can only fish bait and have a lower strength rating than spinning rods.

Hmm, interesting. I'll have to redo my limited backpack space then.

I'm thinking I'll forego lure fishing and run a baitcaster as I don't see any downsides to using it. Then just have a large assortment of different sized lures and/or jigs.

I am finding that hook size is the key. As for big fish on small lures, that is where your pay out should be. The prize IRL is getting the whopper on ultra light tackle.

Difference between spinning and baitcasting in the game is baitcasting you can put on heavier lines and cannot use as float fishing that's about it. Match rod is pretty much useless because you can switch it with a spinning rod and if you want a decent or fun fight with the fish. It's all about fishing line in this game. The rods or reel doesn't mean anything the lighter the line the more the fish fights and the heavier the line the easier you reel in the fish.

Cool thanks for confiming that Match is basically useless. Seeing how limited our backpack storage is, I've decided to exclusively use baitcasters since hooks + baits + floats takes up more space than lures alone.

Maybe once we can buy tackleboxes or fishing vests, I'll go back to float fishing.
