i think i have found a new type of hacking

When I was playing something took control of my keyboard. My tank started going back, but my ping was ok. I couldn't influence the behavior of my tank in any way and I was destroyed. I consider that it was a hacker in enemy team with nickname WarSteelLion. He has a 58% winrate and I think I know why. He's the one who killed me, by the way

Sounds like you were loosing connection. It can seem like you aren't in control even with a few seconds delay. For a player on the enemy team to move your tank they'd have to have control of you entire computer! They would have been banned long before they got 21k battles.

Did the latency (ms) dot turn RED by any chance? If so then that is Packet Loss and caused by a poor or disrupted connection between your computer and the server.

Your not alone, i have experienced it in the past also, best thing to do is report the player. I'm sure if there is some underhanded cheating going on, they can probably monitor him a lot closer to see if it is cheating.

This has happened to me, and I know that that's just your keyboard acting up. I don't really know who would be crazy enough to go through all the trouble to hack your entire computer just to get a kill.

Sorry .. But the keyboard acting up .. is a little far fetched ..

1) Why would the commands being spammed be those of the exact game inputs?
2) Why would there be inputs being made when the keyboard wasn't even being touched.
3) And why would it only be performing in this manner when playing against certain players?
4) Why would the game act completely normal in the next match?

If you can give me a genuine answer for every question .. I might believe you .. ;/

Something weird is obviously happening for a lot of players, possibly could be the game servers sending wrong information to the wrong clients, it is client / server ..

#1 Sometimes my keyboard freezes when I'm pressing a button, so (for me at least) it will freeze on me pressing that button so it will hold the command constantly going until I press the button again. #2 I don't really know how to explain that... #3 Not sure what you mean, cause this happens to me ONLY when my keyboard gets knocked out, not in certain match-ups with certain players. #4 Do you mean my keyboard? because It works completely normal because I just fixed my keyboard :/

If it isn't the keyboard, it would probably be Packet Loss, because I've been seeing LOTS of players with that happening

So .. What i think he has witnessed and I have also .. Is that the game is picking up direction commands randomly .. turning left .. moving backwards etc .. when you are NOT pressing those commands and NOT in the order that the tank is exhibiting.

Think about it logically .. The game uses specific key commands for direction .. it would be very bizarre for the keyboard to be picking up those exact key commands and in a different order due to keyboard freezes wouldn't it ..

It might be your specific problem .. but doesn't explain it for me or many others ..

Packet loss exhibits no control whatsoever .. when ever you've seen the game cut out and then you appear somewhere else or the turret wildly goes left and right, that's connection / packet loss between the client / server.

But it could be that the server is picking up or directing information to and from the wrong clients at times ..

Which could be an explanation for the weird control behaviour ..

I've played this game for years .. and i reckon i have witnessed it 4 or 5 times. It does feel like your being hacked, and i'm not discounting that could be the case.
But i think its more probably a server bug. The key commands get relayed from the client game to the server, I think one set of client commands is getting sent to the wrong object (a different client tank) on the server. To that client (gamer) it would look like someone has taken control of your tank.

My question would be if you have windows 11 because input lag on games is a known issue with the OS that still hasn't been fixed from what I have gathered. Only ever had input issues with the keyboard though so it might be on a device by device basis because my wheel and gamepad are always just fine.

They have already decided its a "new hack". The only "supporting" information is an anecdotal experience easily explained by connection drop outs and/or disconnection from the server.

Not sure whether your trolling or not, but you need to read what people are saying a lot closer ..
Connection drop outs, does not explain how a game would pick up a random pattern of key strokes and keystrokes specific to the game.

I don't think your talking about the same issue .. I have witnessed exactly the same issue he has had .. So I can understand exactly how it would be interpreted as hacking .. But still think its a WG server bug .. But that's not to say that someone has not found a way to manipulate it.

I've experienced it too. The tank seems like has a mind of it's and starts doing allsorts in front of me. When I completely let go of the keyboard, let it finish it's dance (sometimes up to 10s), tap W and 5s later it'll move forward. It was bad connection every time. The movement I guess is a backlog of inputs. Let the game catch up.

Regardless of what's causes it just crash the game somehow and start it up again and you'll be back to the battlefield with amazing ping and hopefully not dead!

The other strange control problem I've had a few times is that the keyboard doesn't work at all. Turrt moves, gun gun fires with no WASD.
