Regarding level 300 players with rare tanks, don't worry, most of the players aren't outstandingly good. I've seen 300 lvl leopard 1 players who play just the same after those 1000+ games.
I guess while i am here...
I don't understand why my Type 63 with a railgun is weaker than all other tanks. It can't just be because my crew isn't ranked up—I'm shooting with gold ammo and doing 200 damage, while they hit me with another same-tier heavy tank and do 700 damage. It just doesn't make sense.
Why isn't matchmaking skill-based and fair? I feel like I'm being penalized for making a purchase.
Also, why are the topography missions so difficult? For example, I have to kill 13 tanks with 900 HP, but it's nearly impossible to shoot them without exposing my tank or crossing open ground on certain maps. After getting 9 enemies, my HP is gone.
How can the Blensk (or whatever it's called) shoot 50 bullets at me from about 6 tank lengths away in an open field and remain totally invisible?
Does my Ace1 rating mean I'll start at that rank if I join competitive?
Is there a way to earn premium gold without buying it?
Finally, how can I see my tank's weak spots?
Thanks!
Hello Mayhem!
Experimental Equipment can be either obtained directly in the events (such as the currently ongoing Frontline) or crafted from Components which are also obtainable in events as well as in the Battle Pass or, in low quantities, from daily missions. If you're not talking about Experimental Equipment but instead experimental tanks, then your answer would be the Supertest Program, the requirements for which (as well as the form to apply) you'll find on this site. (https://worldoftanks.eu/en/news/general-news/eu-supertest-application/).
As for the Type 63, although it may seem weaker to you than other tanks of its tier, this is simply not true. While its alpha damage of 320 might seem weak in comparison to other heavies, the tank shines in a lot of ways that those high-alpha tanks do not. It's versatile, has good turret armor and great gun depression values (-12 degrees), allowing it to adapt quickly to the changing situation on the front and excel in ridgeline combat. It is also quite accurate, especially if you utilize the special firing mechanic. All of these values mean that this tank is not "worse" than the more straightforward, high-alpha heavies of its tier, but instead that it is more useful in a lot of other environments that those tanks would struggle in. To summarize my point, it is a tank that is meant to be played differently, and shines when doing so.
Matchmaking is not skill-based and never has been, for several reasons. Partially, it is to reduce queue times, but also because coding such skill-based systems would be a difficult and lengthy process, and would probably see some users intentionally performing terribly in battles in order to be matched against weaker players. Additionally, WoT is a casual game in most aspects, which is why random matchmaking has remained a feature for all these years. On some days you may feel frustrated when playing against more skilled enemies, but on other days, you'll be the one fighting less skilled opponents, making you the dominant player. If skill-based matchmaking was introduced, every match would be stressful and competitive, as you would always battle opponents of a similar skill level as you. Random matchmaking ensures that everyone gets to enjoy the game casually.
As for topography, I believe you just need to continue trying. Eventually, you're bound to succeed. You could also try alternative strategies, such as sidescraping instead of just peeking enemy tanks, and trying your best to stick to bushes and other forms of concealment when needing to cross large amounts of terrain. If none of those work, you could always try finding a guide online, which is bound to help you more than my short message will.
The Blesk (as well as any other tank, as it is not exclusive in this regard) could fire at you without being spotted for a variety of reasons, most of them boiling down to the enemy being in a good, concealed position, and you driving a tank with poor view-range. Sometimes it might seem frustrating, but concealment is a core game mechanic which will start working for you, rather than against you, if you take the time to master it.
As for competitive, I assume you mean tournaments or Onslaught, in both of which you will start at the same level as everyone else. WTR Is not taken into account.
Yes, you can earn gold for free, but it's a rather complicated process. Gold between Wot and WoWp (World of Warplanes) is linked, meaning you it is shared between both games. WoWp offers a lot of ways to gain gold for free, so as long as you play that game semi-actively, you should be able to earn enough gold to obtain a Tier VIII Premium tank in several months. Alternatively, gold is often a reward in tournaments or special competitions (such as Best Replay, RNG and others).
The game does not yet have an armor-viewing feature in-game, but it is included in most popular modpacks, as well as readily available on several websites (such as https://tanks.gg . Simply find the tank you're looking for, click "3D Model", then in the top left corner click "Collision" and change it to "Live". Now you're viewing your tank's armor when shot at by its own gun. Alternatively, you can use the Compare feature to check your tank's armor profile against other tanks' guns.)
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
Thanks for the detailed breakdown. That clears up a lot, especially regarding the Type 63 and matchmaking. The tips on strategy and concealment are definitely helpful, and I’ll check out the resources you mentioned. I Appreciate the insight and the time taken to help.
Two more questions you mention a battle pass but for me its not available how do i get it or when does it start again? And i see on YouTube people have a premium shop tab on the right off the premium days left counter why don't i have this tab as i have premium account.
Regarding premium shop tab, unfortunately that's a limitation that comes with Steam. Since the link would transfer you to an external website from Steam, you wouldn't be able to pay with Steam funds for that. But don't be upset, you can find all the same deals in the Shop tab. This would include boxes, tanks being offered and similar, for no extra cost. So if you ask me it's even more convenient :P
We don't know when another season will start, but probably soon. I'd give it a week orr two before the announcement. As for the Premium Shop button, are you sure you don't have it? I can see it in my client and I also have Premium Account.
Having downloaded wow i see no options for gaining gold can you elaborate a bit more.
Sure, but I'll start with saying that I haven't played Warplanes in around a decade, so what you're reading could be somewhat unreliable. But I believe there is a set of "beginner's missions" or something of that sort which will grant you small amounts of gold on certain stages. Additionally, there should be a Weekly Crate you can obtain rather easily, which has a chance of giving you gold as a reward. But again, you might want to look into other sources like the WoWP reddit and other similar sites, since those will probably be a lot more precise than me.
Sometimes Steam version can have some exclusive deals, but I guess not so much lately.
