I never understood why people, when this happens to them. start spending money instead of just quitting.
sunk cost fallacy
Nowadays it is much easier to play WoT with all the events and missions. Gold rounds used to be purely for gold back in the game, credits were hard to obtain and xp took forever to grind.
While I cannot deny there are some bad decisions, If I were to choose, I would rather start playing WoT from scratch in current state, than the 2012 version.
That also exaclty ;) When u in that loop hole, ur kinda stuck haha
EZ way out, ppl have invested time and money already as mentioned under in the comments "sunk cost fallacy", would feel even more bad to just quit. And also the gameplay can be good and tempting in this game, just other aspects with the game that makes it more or less bumpy depending on how much money you invest into this game. Also ppl want to always be optimal challenged with the game, not too easy, nor too hard, with stock tanks the MM is kinda off and u become inferior to other tanks, this is a ez way out I tihnk. There are so many aspects in this game that affects the player's pschye more than one knows, espcially in this F2P modell, in this game.
So many learnt to use premium ammo just when necessary to still turn a profit most of the time. But then WG started to do everything possible to encourage the use of premium ammo. Remember the Sirfoch Chrysler incident? That's, coincidentally, when I stopped playing.

I think the main question is: is it still fun despite that?
Personally, I still have fun with it, even without spending money. Though I avoid the top tiers, and I'm not the type of person who gets bummed out by being at a disadvantage, I'm not trying to be seriously competitive or anything like that.
I do prefer the model they are using for World of Warships, though, I find it a bit more friendly for free players.
Of course, I'd love to see a different developer trying their hands with this type of game with a more sane model, but until we get that... there's pretty much no option, as the only current competition also has the same issues.
It is P2W. But that's only one of the problems with this abomination.

Toxic is part of the culture of WG. Do you know this character?
