Recovering your original account

I got signed out of my regular account in WofT, so next time I launched the game it started me off with another, new account from scratch. I don't want to play using this new nub account, but want to switch back to my old account, but there is no method for that in the WofT. I went to their website and logged out and logged in to their website using my old account multiple times, and the game keeps starting with the new account

Hi. You still can play with your old account, but you can't play it using steam. Try to log into your own account using WGC, on top left you can see which account is logged in right now and you can either log out if it's the wrong account, or you can add another account to the launcher. I am certain that you can not register a new account on the same email (at least within the same region), so it is 100% possible to log into it and continue playing. If you have more questions or the solution doesn't work I suggest contacting WG support (you can find it on the website of your region, e.g. eu.wargaming.net, ru.wargaming.net, na.wargaming.net or asia.wargaming.net)

Their website and the game don't communicate. I am registered under and logged in with my old account on their website at https://na.wargaming.net/personal/ but the game keeps starting me with the new account. The only thing I can do on their website is to change my password or change my screen name if I pay them 2500 gold. I changed the password, but no point changing screen name since I'm already logged in to their website with my old account.

I have to ask why?
I was looking forward to playing, but since my account is already connected to wot blitz on steam. I can't use my account? that does not seem right..
Well I won't be installing the wot launcher, I just wasted 40GB of data downloading this.
