Cannot upgrade house, sign missing

Hello all! I want to upgrade my house, but something seems to have gone wrong. I've already finished McDuck's gem quest and expanded the first room as much as it will let me. The problem is, there is no sign outside for me to actually upgrade the house. I looked up some guides, and it seems like I'd had my crafting station placed right where the sign was supposed to be in front of the house. I walked all around the house and it doesn't seem to be placed elsewhere or in my inventory. I'm wondering if I somehow ruined my ability to ever upgrade my house or if I've just misunderstood how/where the sign to allow the upgrade appears. Thanks!

Have you tried completely closing out the game then reloading your save? That seems to have fixed most of the little bugs/quirks I've run into.

That was a good idea. Unfortunately, I just tried it and it didn't fix it. Thank you though :)

Oh no. That sucks. Just to be doubly sure, did you completely exit the game and close the application before booting it back up again? Sometimes just exiting to the main menu isn't enough.

If you've done that and it still persists, maybe check over on Discord. That seems to be where the devs/community managers are hanging out.

Not entirely clear from the original post, but is your crafting station still where the sign's supposed to show up? If so, have you tried moving it to see if that makes the sign pop into place? You can also move your house, too, so maybe doing that will make the sign appear, and then you can move your house back into place.

I moved the crafting station to a different spot when I realized it was where the sign was supposed to be, and just now I completely removed it and moved the entire house to an open space, completely shut down the game again, and restarted it. The sign is still missing. I'll look for help on Discord when I have time and worst case I guess I will start a new game. Having to live in a tiny run down shack forever would be fine if storage space wasn't also tied into house upgrades lol. Thank you both!

OK, so I kind of don't want to admit this because it's pretty disgraceful that I missed this step despite reading multiple guides, but in case any other poor lost souls get confused like I was, I'll just say, make sure you actually talk to McDuck after expanding the room. So uh... I'm just going to pretend none of this ever happened.
