Regenerating the Orb of Nurturing

Is it true that you have to mix up multiple batches of watering can enhancer and water that in for days in a row to get the orb working? i.e. just plain watering after the initial enhanced won't make it happen? If so, I wish the instructions had been a little clearer on that.

i got it with only regular watering.
a couple play sessions i didn't even have to water, it was raining.

I managed to do it by just watering it like normal, it took me maybe 3 days for it to grow?

I just watered it once and it grew in a couple days. Like 4 or 5 days of waiting. Can't believe I had to wait actual real days for it to grow.

If you use the magical watering can elixir potion thing it will grow on the first use.

I used it and it didn't do anything.
