THIS IS GAMELOFT BEING NICE.
I spent 2.5k moonstones for premium, and already I have 2k back. (I prioritized unlocking each stage with the 3 minimum unlocks, getting the moonstones and the cheapest motifs first.) After I buy all the cosmetic items I am interested in, I will buy the final stage moonstone rewards with my left over points. The Star Path basically pays for itself in moonstones, which NEVER HAPPENS, seriously it could be worse.
You have until the end of January to finish the Star Path. Waiting a day or 2 for a new giftable is not the end of the world. You can spend money, and clear the way fast (and then what will you do with the rest of it?) OR you can be take your time and not spend anything more.
By all means, never give the developer money again. If you have kids playing, teach them not to spend or buy moonstones without permission, and make sure using your Steam Wallet requires login (because kids are going to press that button, you know it).
Well, yes? Inevitably, my interest will wane and I'll move on. You don't NEED to move ahead with the game. You play as much as you enjoy, then stop. That's life.
Also, it is a glitch, yes.
